Volume VI  Issue 000058

I left off the last ezine with Sandy and I seeing Scotty McCreery at the Ventura fair.  I LOVE Scotty’s music.  5 more minutes is one of my favorite songs because it reminds me of my dad.

In the video, Scotty is pitching a baseball game and his grandpa is in the stands in a wheelchair with his are around his granddaughter (Scotty’s sister)….OK that is so my dad in the stands with Indiana watching Houston pitch.  This video makes me cry every thine.

Before Sandy and I saw Scotty sing we hit the Speakeasy (brought to you by Surf Rodeo) with a few of her friends.  Here we are with DJ and Jim Rose.

Once again, we got right up front and the concert was amazing!  The Fair has been so much fun this year!

Time for an eBay Score….I love this coffee mug that just sold for the full price of over $70.  Mo bought this out in the desert for about $1.99.  Since it is an arthritic coffee mug, it is very much in demand.

Check out the listing here.

Speaking of eBay, I forgot to tell you who I ran into two weeks ago at the Shawn Jones Concert….Bridget!

When I first moved to Ventura, I asked my new neighbor, Gina Cole, to recommend someone to help me with eBay.  Well, she recommended Bridget. Bridget started working for me before the store even opened when she was like 14 years old.  We love Bridget and she is now working at the Grape!

This past Friday, the Palm Desert girls showed up in Ventura to go to the Fair with me on Saturday.  I worked all day in the store and then hung out with them Friday night.

Saturday, I dropped them off at the store and went to an appointment.  Picked them up after my appointment and we had lunch down at Dukes.  Then we went home and changed and ubered down to the fair.

So much fun!

We went on some rides…I did the Fun House (which was really not fun) and the Ferris Wheel!  The girls did one of those zipper type rides…not for me!

And it was COLD…I posted this on Insta and someone said “Where are you….the Arctic?”  HAHAHA.

While we were enjoying the fair, Kevin and Susan were redoing the front window.  Because we have so much nice dinnerware sets right now, I suggested a front window with mostly china.

I think it turned out great!  And remember, it is all an additional 40% off!

After the fair, we met Marian, Sandy and her husband, Doug, along with their dogs, Sam and Kirby at the Harbor Cove Cafe to hear the Twains.

Another fun event!  I LOVE Ventura!

On Sunday, Kel headed back home to the Desert and Mo & I went to the store to run it with Brittany and Xander.

Got lots done, because I had to, because on Monday, Mo and I would be flying to Las Vegas for eBay Live.  There hasn’t been a large in person event in over 6 years so we were excited to attend.

Mo wasn’t sure she could go, but at the last minute decided to make it and got a free plane  ticket on Southwest since a family member works for SW.

Sunday night, I did go out for a date and left Mo at home.  I know, not very nice, but Mo was fine with it!  And I needed to get back home pretty early to pack. so it all worked out.

Here we are on Monday morning riding in style in an uber to Burbank for our flights.  Mo was on SW and I took JSX.

Amazingly enough, we would land at the same time!  Will miracles never cease?

Indiana saw my Insta story and had to “Pop off”….She cracks me up!

Unfortunately, I replied with “I am so glad you know what a ROAD is”  Hahaha.

Mo and I would be picked up in Vegas by the one and only Diva Dawn and her husband, Diva Dude!

After an interesting pickup…because I was in a hangar and Mo was in the main airport…we finally made it to lunch!  Always a fun time with the Diva Dawn and Diva Dude!

After lunch, we checked into the hotel and did a little bit of gambling and got ready for day 1 of eBay Live.

The keynote was from 3 to 4:30 on Tuesday and I would be going alone.  Mo wasn’t sure she was going to be able to make it to Vegas for the event, so by the time she decided, the event was sold out.  Darn!  No way to get a badge.

Luckily, when I walked into the keynote I ran into Clark and Marie, friends of Tiki Jason, who I had met and had dinner with in Phoenix years ago.

Fun to sit with them!

After the keynote, there was a cocktail reception with appetizers.  eBay really does do it right!  I ran into Griff and his husband Rob, so that was super fun!

Griff was able to help us figure out how get a badge for Mo and we were all set for day 2!  But not before we had dinner with Griff and Rob.  Always a blast!

Time for an eBay score and I LOVE this one!  This little outfit belonged to Houston back in the day.  I have had it listed for quite some time on eBay and was happy to take a best offer of $30 for it and let a new USC family put it to good use!

Check out the listing here.

And here he is wearing a similar outfit….basketball did not turn out to be his sport…baseball did.  But how cute is he?

OK, back to day 2 at eBay Live.  Mo and I showed in the expo hall right at 11:30 which was just in time for lunch….great timing right?

And then we had a seller clinic meeting to help with my business….but quite frankly, Mo and I knew way more.

So, on to find more seasoned employees and friends….like Griff & Theresa Cox.  Learned about some new listing platforms that are using AI in a much more robust way than eBay and can’t wait to check them out!

Here I am with Theresa.

Then as Mo and I were getting a Diet Coke, I was asked to film a short video about my time at eBay Open.

Reminded me of my many past eBay Live experiences and Spencer even told me that I was his best interview all day….hahahaha!

OK, time for another eBay sale this past week.  You know, since we are at eBay Open 2025…Their 30th anniversary!

Check out the listing here.  It is one of the IOD Moulds that are currently in the store at 40% off that I can sell on eBay for way more money!  Score!

The best news for me this past week was Indiana getting a gig at Paramount!  OH MY GOODNESS!

She called me on Friday of last week to tell me this….”Hey Mom, you remember I was telling you about that producer, Ian Micheals (BTW…he did High Fidelity with John Cuzak)….well he wants me to come in and do a voice over”.

I said “OK, what does that even mean?” and she told me that Ian is producing a movie with Jamie Lee Curtis and he needed someone who is Non-SAG to come in for an hour and do some voice overs.

I was over the moon….Indy is back into her craft and really excelling.  She is going to get a credit in the movie and she had a blast doing three different characters who never appear on screen, but you do hear their voices.  It only took her 15 minutes and she got paid $150 and then got to roam around the Paramount Lot.

She sent me this picture on the lot and she looks so happy!  She called me and I said “You are going to see some famous people” and she said “I do every time I look in the mirror”.   LOL!

And we laughed and I said “That is brilliant” and she said “That is what I think 12 year old Indy would have said”.  Awwwwww!  My kids!

I got some really sad news last week.  One of Houston’s favorite baseball coaches had passed away.  Jason Beck had been out to Ventura with his wife Mary a few years ago to see Houston and I and have lunch.  Here is Jason with Houston in my office (in the back of the store) holding a photo from a Colorado tournament.  Both Houston & Jason are in that photo.  Ughhhh.
Jason had been diagnosed with a neurological disorder 6 years ago that they could never figure out and NEVER found a cure.  Breaks my heart.  Houston and I will be in the desert for his service next month.  I hope Indy can also join us.
Last night (Wednesday), Mo and I went to the Sphere to see the Virtual U2 Show.  I will have to share more about that in next week’s ezine.

Tonight, I will fly up to Bellingham to meet up with my kids and celebrate my mom’s 89th birthday on Friday afternoon.  And then my high school reunion on Saturday night…..OH My!  It has been a crazy month!

Back to the store…..For my consignors, here is more info about the closing.

This has been an incredibly difficult decision for me.  Here are the details of the closing process for my consignors.

Consignor Instructions
1.)  If you have consigned items with us, you MUST pick them up by 8/25 or they will become the property of Lynn’s Consignments.

2.) If it does sell before 8/25, you will receive payment for those items.  After 8/25, things will be liquidated and/or donated to The Boys & Girls Club, Battered Women or the “Moving In” Charity that helps to house the homeless.

3.)  We will still be taking in new consignments during this process.

4.) For those of you with items that sold over a year ago, your consignor credit has been converted to store credit as per the contract.

5.) I will be writing final checks on 8/31 and will be mailing those out. Please get your name on my check writing list by calling the store.

An update on my nephew, Zach. He is currently passing through Mt. Baker in Bellingham, WA….Almost there my man!

Here is a pic from Zach’s trek. So proud of this kid! Way to go Zach! And, he will be making it home in time for my mom’s 89th birthday party on Friday, August 15th.

Because I am out of town for a week, I left Cha Cha at Club Med for Dogs in Carpineteria.  Actually, Sandy drove her up there for me on Monday and will pick her up on Sunday.

I have received some very nice updates from Diane.  Cha Cha is exhausted.  Can’t wait to see her when I get home on Sunday!  Here she is getting ready to lead the pack.
