Volume VI  Issue 000059

I left off the last ezine with Mo and I going to the Sphere to see the virtual U2 concert with Griff’s husband Rob.  What a night!

Thursday was our last day at eBay Open and it was a bittersweet one….kind of a theme for this ezine.  eBay announced Griff’s retirement.  He was the 6th employee at eBay and was their spokesperson & Podcast host for years.  Very sad day for all eBay sellers and for Griff.  The end of an era.

After that retirement announcement, Mo and I went out to dinner with Griff and Rob.  It was a somber and sad dinner.   Then I flew up to Bellingham that night and Mo flew back to Palm Springs.

The next day would be my mom’s 89th birthday party.  It rained all day Friday for the party…ughhhh.  We still had a great time.

Two of my cousins showed up to the party.  Teresa and Walden who were my dad’s sister Marjorie’s kids.  It was great to catch up with them.

Walden even brought home baked pies! And Zach made it a special point to return from the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail) just in time for the party. His last day was August 14th when he made it to the Canadian Border and my mom’s party was August 15th. What a kid! He did the entire thing, but says it is not something he would ever do again!

Here is Zach with Walden and the pies!

It was a fun party and great to hang out with some of my high school friends and my kids and my sister’s kids.  Back row, my nephews, Kai and Zach with me.  Front row, Larissa, Indy, Kathy Rutan, Leslie Arntzen and my mom’s friend Sharin Lewis.

When the party ended, we decided to watch the Reese Witherspoon movie (Wild) about her hike on the PCT. Jeff, Jen and Sam stayed to watch it with all of us and I ordered Taco Time for the group! It was a fun evening and so great for Zach to tell us what his experience was in contrast to the movie!

Here is is ending picture and final stats. What an accomplishment!

The next day I got a cute picture of my sister’s boys skipping rocks.  Can’t believe she has been gone 13 years.  Kai is officially taller than his older brother, Zach.

Time for an eBay score.  Mo found a bunch of these NOS (New Old Stock) bathing caps in the desert for $1 each.  They have been selling like crazy!  Who would have thunk it?  Sold for $23.49.  Score!  Anytime you can make 10 to 20x your investment on eBay it is a great day.

The day after my mom’s party, we all went to Anthony’s for lunch.  I have been taking my kids there since they were tiny tots.  It is one of our favorite places and we got our favorite large round table.  Walden decided to join us and the table only holds 8, but we squeezed in and got all 9 of us seated comfortably.

After lunch, my kids and their cousins (Zach & Kai), headed to my cousin Walden’s ranch to check out his horses.  They had a blast and then went to Birch Bay to play miniature golf.  Such great memories in Bellingham for my kiddos.  And I LOVE getting together with family!

That night for me was a mini high school reunion at Kurt Lunde’s barn. It was super fun to catch up with everyone and talk about planning our big 45th reunion for next summer.

You have got to love the cake that Leslie got for the reunion.

The next day, Houston, Larissa, Indiana and I flew from BLI to LAX.  Jo Dallas had been sick all week and I didn’t get to see her at my mom’s party or at the reunion.  She was in Bellingham for her son’s birthday on Sunday, so she stopped in at the airport to say a quick hello.  Always great to see her!

Since I had flown out of Burbank to Las Vegas and then Las Vegas to Bellingham and then Bellingham to LAX….I did not have a car to drive home.

The kids and I ubered to Indy’s house and then they dropped me off at California Pizza Kitchen where I grabbed some dinner and called an Uber. I was taking a bag of Indy’s clothes to the store, so I looked like a crazy lady waiting for my ride with all of this stuff!

And speaking of Indiana, she has a show in West Hollywood on Friday night for any of you that are in the area.  I will be there and would love to see you!

Indiana has put together a great group of comics…some of my favorites…Isabel, Blake, Alice and of course Indy herself!

It was soooooo nice to get home after a full week on the road.  And to see Carlos and Cha Cha who I am sure missed me!  Monday, it was back to Fit Buddha (I hadn’t been in two weeks) and then Martini Monday with Marc.  Somethings never change….which is a good thing!

Here is a throwback photo of Marc and I during freshman year at USC.  It is going to  be our 40th college reunion this year…..Now that is CRAZY!

Time for an eBay score.  Sold this neat little fish platter for a best offer of $45.00 and it got shipped to Alabama.

Tuesday, it was back to the grind.  And I am not kidding.  Xander and I borrowed Sandy’s truck and started moving my eBay merch.  Here is a link to a TikTok that I did about the process.

It was slow going with just Sandy’s truck, so on Saturday I will rent a uhaul and have both Xander and Kevin to help with the move.  We can only get one costco shelf and all of the items on it in one load.  We got two shelves moved on Tuesday and hopefully another two on Thursday.  I have 18 shelves to move.  10% progress so far!

On Tuesday night, Houston text me and said he was watching some of the old movies I had put on a thumb drive as a Christmas Gift.  He said, “U should seriously watch movie #15, it’s amazing.  Including a section where Uncle Lee films in a department store.”

So, I spent an hour on Tuesday night watching part of it.  There is still an hour left.  This is a “still photo” of some crazy beautiful footage of my sister trying to feed the deer at my mom’s house in Sudden Valley.  Bittersweet.  Fitting way to end this ezine.

OK, one last funny thing that Houston just posted.  It cracked me up!  Yes, that is my kid who rides his bike to Pepperdine for Law School and also rode his bike to the LA District Attorney’s office for his summer internship.  I guess he thinks that makes him cool!

Back to the store…..For my consignors, here is more info about the closing.
