Volume V Issue 000026
OMG! I finished my Christmas Cards….what a relief! But, I am waaaaaaaaay behind on holiday shopping!
Luckily, I know a really great local store named Lynn’s Consignments where I can shop! And you can as well! Thank you for supporting local this holiday season. It means the world to us!
Extra shopping hours next week….
Monday 12/23 11 to 5
Tuesday 12/24 also known as Christmas Eve :)11 to 2
& please stop in for some holiday cheer on Christmas Eve….champagne, wine & baked goodies!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I can’t believe that when I write the next one, Christmas will be OVER! OMG…where did this year go?
The Mid-Century furniture is selling quickly. We just sold the matching 6 dining chairs on Saturday. What a beautiful set!
The past week was all about finishing those Christmas cards! And I even brought them to the store with me on Saturday to work on them. I was sitting at one of the tables in the store writing away and I hear “Hola” and it was Val and her family! Made me sooooo happy! Love them!
Sunday was a big day in our family. Indiana turned 26! And I met the kids down at Gladstones for Brunch. Houston cycled down from the Marina and we had a lot of fun. I LOVE Gladstones and have been going there since my USC days.
You would often find us down there on a Sunday, eating the peanuts and grabbing drinks. Brings back great memories. This year, we made new memories and Cha Cha joined us!
At one point, I said to the kids, “How did I get such old kids?” and Houston says, “because you are old”! I laughed so hard.
After Gladstones, Cha Cha and I headed back to Ventura to meet up with a friend and his dog, Bear at the beach. It was my mission to wear out the Cha Cha and she LOVES the beach!
Mission accomplished! Check out my puppy after her fun day!
Monday, I did Fit Buddha and then had lunch down at Aloha Steakhouse with Marc. We are so fortunate to live here!
Tuesday, I met up with my friend Janette who owns Island Girl Spray Tan for dinner. It seems like the holidays are going to be over before we know it and there just isn’t enough time to see everyone that I want during this special time of year.
Wednesday night, Indiana had a show at the Elysian Theater in Los Angeles. Marc and I went in early to meet Larissa for dinner first.
First stop was Laretos in Frogtown where we thought we would be having dinner, but it wasn’t our vibe. LOL.
So we text Larissa (who was late) and said, “Pick us up and take us to Ivanhoe”. It was a restaurant that Marc spotted when we got off the freeway. And it was Perfect! We had a lovely dinner. And it was open mike night with a ton of super talented singers. Score!
Then we headed to the show at the Elysian. Indiana was amazing and I am sooooo happy she brought “Sister Jospehine” back. LOVE this character!
And a final pic with my Indy Girl before we headed back to Ventura. Long day, but super fun!

My social life is keeping me from Christmas shopping. Ughhhh. My mom flies in tonight from Bellingham. She hasn’t been down here in a year probably because I went home so many times this summer. Stop in the store and see her.
Here she is with George (one of our first and favorite consignors) who passed away this year. Ughhhh!
Time for an eBay score. I found two of these French Jars Trays up at the Catholic Church Thrift Store in Carp. I paid $5 each for them. Just sold the last one yesterday for 127.49! Check out the auction here.
Tonight before my mom arrives, I am going to a progressive dinner. I was telling my kids about it and they had no idea what I was talking about…they thought it was political. Hahahaha.
In any event, I explained to them that we start at one house for appetizers, then move onto the next house for the main course and finally arrive at the last home for desert. Sounds like a blast and I can’t wait to go.
Time for another eBay score. I do not like to get up early. I am NOT a morning person. So, I typically get to garage sales closer to the end rather than the start. I need to work on this! But, this time it worked in my favor. I arrived to a garage sale as they were packing up to close and everything was FREE!
I got this really cool wine opener and a bunch of other neat stuff. Just sold the wine opener for a best offer of $35. Not bad! Check out the listing here.
In super weird news, I was so happy to see a Christmas card on the floor of my store with familiar writing..it was pushed through the mail slot. It was from one of my favorite sorority sisters, Sandy Weber.
I wanted to tell her how happy I was to see it so I reached out to her on Facebook and if you can believe it she is from Ventura. I had no idea! She graduated from Ventura High School in 1983. What a small world! I said to her, “I bet some of the people you went to high school with are some of my customers/consignors.”
But wait, there is an even weirder coincidence that happened with Sandy and me and our husbands many years ago. My ex-husband, William, went to high school at Webb Boarding School in Claremont. It is a very tiny school.
William and I went to the 10 year class reunion and Wm walks up to this guy and says “Cheese” (his nickname and his real name is Tony) and proceeds to give him a big hug. His wife turns around to see what all the commotion is about and it was Sandy Weber!
We lost it! What are the odds? Our husbands went to high school together. Still blows my mind! I will have to find that picture of the four of us to share with y’all.
We got in some really great items this week! Please stop in and see us soon!
Please don’t bring in any consignments on Wednesdays…it is our CRAZY day! And we are looking for some higher end clothing…remember to call for an appointment for clothing….Brands….
