Hi!
OK, this is my second ezine for April! Yay, I am on track this month! I hope you have all survived two important dates. April 15th, tax day, and April 16th, the new roll-out of eBay’s dashboard showing us our standing within the new seller requirements. I am confident we are all on our way to TRS (Top Rated Seller) standing!
It has been a crazy couple of weeks. Time flies when you are having fun…… or when you sell on eBay? Both are true! My dad has been here for two weeks and we have seen lots of baseball and lots of track. Unfortunately, it has been a little bit too hot. 100 degrees most days. Welcome to spring/summer in the desert.
One of the baseball games we saw was really cool because Houston was named player of the game! This is from the Max Prep website…. Congratulations to #22 Houston Wilson for being selected as the Player of the Game. 2 for 3 — 1B, 2B & RBI.
Here he is getting signs from his coach while he is up to bat and the pitcher and catcher are deciding what to do about him!
After the game, Houston, my dad, my brother, and I all went out to a Korean barbecue. It was crazy! All you can eat within two hours but you have to cook it yourself. Well, my brother cooked it all for us .
While we were eating, I was working on a deal with an eBayer to sell him 11 pottery barn tumblers and old-fashioned drinking glasses for close to $110.00. I had paid $1 each so it was a super score!

I want to share this score for a few reasons. First, how did I know that these were Pottery Barn glassware? Well, guess what? I try and remember to ask every seller of a set (or unique items) where they acquired the pieces if they know who made it and what is the pattern name (if it isn’t signed).
I have found that by doing this I learn a lot and avoid a lot of costly mistakes. I am sure you have had the same experience. You think you have a total score on your hands and then you casually ask the seller, “Can you tell me anything about this amazing set?” When they answer, “I bought it at Big Lots”, “My best friend made it” or “It is from Walmart”, I know to say, “It is just beautiful, but won’t match my décor”.
The seller of these unmarked drinking glasses told me that they were Pottery Barn and still being made. That was a score!
I also wanted to share this because the buyer was super sweet. Don’t you just love it when you get a great buyer? I sure do and appreciate them all the more. Here is his email to me. I do like that he called me Queen Lynn, tongue in cheek, of course.
“Queen Lynn,
I received ALL the glasses today; thank you for the beautiful packing job **. Also, thank you for the personal service – and for renewing my belief in eBay These transactions have been a pleasure, and reminds me of the days a decade ago when this all used to be more fun!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
R.**unfortunately, you did not “idiot-proof” the box; I broke one of the glasses getting it out of the bubble wrap!! So, that extra pair you found really helped… Still kicking myself here… “
Another fun part of this story is that my 80-year-old dad did all the packing. He is awesome! He takes his “unpaid internship” very seriously and has done a fantastic job packing for me these past two weeks. We will all miss him when he leaves this today.
But before I forget, I want to share a super score that I had back in 2005 BECAUSE I asked the seller to tell me more about her dishes. OH MY GOSH! That is almost ten years ago. Yikes! It is from my book Money-Making Madness.
While my dad was here, we also got to see Indy run a lot of track. Here she is on the far right-hand side (white shirt) just after the start gun. She has been getting a lot of PRs (Personal Records) and having a lot of fun….even in 100-degree weather. Too hot for me!
Do you remember those Halloween mugs I shared with you in the last ezine? Well, the one we pictured with jack-o-lanterns sold for $21.00 and this one with a witch also sold for close to $20.00.

I am sharing these coffee mug scores again because both mugs sold for MORE than they sell for on a very POPULAR china replacement site. It had Mo scratching her head. And me, realizing even more than ever, that I can get close to, if not more than, what that website is asking.
There are a few reasons for this. The china/silver/crystal replacement sites are hard to navigate. They don’t make buying as easy as eBay does. Also, eBay pays a small fortune in Google ad click fees, to drive traffic to their site. That is why (as sellers on eBay) we can command higher prices. Keep that in mind when you do your pricing. It is VERY IMPORTANT!
I heard from many of you after the last ezine, that the link to the highest-priced selling Hockey jersey, didn’t work. I am sorry! Here is the correct link.

During my dad’s visit, we also had two Australian exchange students spend the night at our home. It was an awesome experience for all of us! The two boys, Jimmy and Liam, attend Xavier College (high school) in Melbourne and we’re here to play with their jazz band for two weeks. Their first stop was Xavier College Prep, the high school where Indy and Houston attend.
I immediately signed up to be a host family because I knew it would be awesome! We made gift bags for the boys with some of the foods that they can’t find in Australia. The gift bags included Goldfish, Twizzlers, Skittles (although they apparently have them), Root Beer, and Reeces Peanut Butter cups. The boys told us that you can get Reeces down under, but a small package will cost $8. My goodness!
The boys brought us gifts as well. Four amazingly beautiful tea/coffee mugs (brand new in package), Vegemite, and some type of Australian chocolate delicacy. OK, I have to admit that for about ten seconds, I did consider selling the new-in-box coffee/tea mugs. Couldn’t do it! Here is a photo of Houston trying Vegemite. Gross!
At about 10:30 that evening, Houston got a text that some of the other host kids were taking their Australians to In and Out Burger. Off they went. Turns out there were about 12 of the Australian band members there with three of the Xavier host families and kids. How fun! Midnight (well close to it) Burger Run—I feel like I am back in college. One of the moms from our Xavier bought every Australian an In-n-Out T-shirt to take home with them. How cool is that?
Here are some of the Aussies wearing their new t-shirts. They were having fun as well!
OK, I have been waiting to share this next score because it is so BEYOND fantastic and it isn’t even mine…all the better. It is a Queens Court member’s score that blows my mind. One of the many things I LOVE about this score is these posts from the QC.
“Cindy, would you mind letting me share this in my next ezine? It is really an awesome score. Thanks for considering it! Lynn”
“Lynn,
Definitely!! FYI, I almost threw this item but know you always say there’s a buyer out there for everything. So glad I listened to The Queen!
Cindy”
OK, drum roll, please. Are you all ready for this one? And yes, It is Incredible—or That’s Incredible. Wasn’t that a reality show with John Davidson in the 1980’s? Yes, it was but, as usual, I digress. Let’s get back to the posts on the QC…..
“Not long after I listed this at auction for $19.99, I received two requests to add a BIN, one who said they would purchase at $100. I decided not to add a BIN, and boy am I glad!!”
This item was in a huge lot of three long tables full which I purchased at an estate auction. I paid only $15 for everything, and the first item I listed (a vintage matchbook!!) sold for $50, so everything else is gravy!

The buyer, who lives in PA, left great feedback and also send a nice email:
“The Gettysburg wood tower arrived safely today. I posted positive feedback for you on eBay this evening. You did an excellent job describing this very rare Gettysburg souvenir. Thank you for the outstanding service.”
THAT’S INCREDIBLE!!!!! Over $1,500.00 for something Cindy was thinking about tossing. NEVER throw anything saleable away without listing it on eBay first. Congrats to Cindy and thanks for sharing!!!
I am super excited to announce the Queen’s Court gift for April and a teleseminar that the rest of you will NOT want to miss. Here is all about it.
How would you like to learn about
selling Sporting Goods that you can
easily find at Garage Sales & Thrift Stores?
Join us on Wednesday, April 23rd
at 5 pm Pacific and you can.
This is just what Coco will teach us in our first ever teleseminar together. Well, actually it is our second teleseminar together because she guest hosted March’s Queen’s Court Q & A call for Mo. Mo had to work late at her “other” job and missed the call. Coco filled in at the last minute and was a pro!
Here is what a Queen’s Court member had to say after the call…
“Lynn,
Hi, Great call with Coco last night,
Thanks!
Jane”
Here is a photo of Coco at a San Diego Padres game.
Coco is an expert eBay seller with fourteen years of experience. She specializes in items that you may consider “guy stuff”. However, sporting goods run the gamut from ladies’ golf shoes, tennis racquets, golf bags all the way to snowboards. Although, most of the snowboards she finds at a garage and estate sales she gives to her nephew CJ.
Coco also has another sporty nephew, Erik, who pitched for the San Diego Padres during the 2011 season and is now with the Maryland Blue Crabs working his way back into the Majors.
Coco is obviously very well connected in the sporting world and knows her stuff!
This new teleseminar, on Wednesday, April 23rd at 5pm PDT, will be the Queen’s Court gift for April. If you are not a Queen’s Court member you may pre-purchase it here. If you can’t attend the live telephone call, don’t worry it will be recorded and available for download.
Check out this wooden water ski that Coco sold for a king’s ransom…
It sold for over $350! Coco paid only $10 for it at a garage sale. Go, Coco! I usually say to her, “Congratulations, but I would HATE to ship all the stuff you sell.” and she responds with, “Congratulations on your dinnerware sales, but I would HATE to ship all of that”! She always responds with, “It is easy if you know what you are doing.” Coco knows what she is doing and I can’t wait for all of us to pick her brain during the upcoming teleseminar call on Wednesday, April 23rd at 5 pm PDT, 8 pm EDT.
Coco started selling on eBay in 1999 to unload inventory after she closed her design business. She was tired of all the traveling involved. She specialized in design packages for a major restaurant chain and later, designed with her own company, where they specialized in furnishing…sports bars. No wonder she knows so much about sports items!
Coco and her partner actually snagged the skates from the player who scored the very first goal for the Anaheim Ducks! They used the skates to decorate the sports bar by Angel Stadium. It was originally called The National Sports Grill. Now it is the OC Sports Grill. Check out those skates if you are ever in the area!
Here is another recent score of Coco’s. Talk about amazing!
It is a scuba diving air tank that sold for over $170! I should know about scuba stuff, but I never even bother to look. Coco paid $15 for it in a box with some other scuba stuff. Wow!
In this 70 minute teleseminar, Coco will teach us…
- How to Source the best selling Sporting Items
- What brands to ALWAYS buy
- What brands to NEVER buy
- What brands are QUESTIONABLE
- What niches are the most profitable
- How to ship these crazy oversized items
- If she ships internationally
- What is her favorite sports genre
- What sports niche should you avoid
- What sports niche should you embrace
- What size in sporting good clothing (both new and used) sells the best
- What size in sporting good shoes (both new and used) sells the best
If you are lucky enough to be a Queen’s Court member, this is your April Gift. If not, pre-purchase now and email your questions to me immediately at Lynn@TheQueenofAuctions.com. I can’t wait for this call!
Here is another one of Coco’s amazing scores and believe me,
she has a lot to share with us!
She paid $10 for this at a garage sale. It sold for over $100 at auction. What I love about the items Coco sells is that they are all high ticket. Her average sales price is much higher than my $22.72 and that means fewer items to ship!
This teleseminar will give all of us more insider information that we need to be successful in selling sporting goods. I am so happy that Coco is willing to share what she knows with all of us. I hope you take advantage of this so that knowledge can be yours as well!
To purchase click here. Just $24.99
Finally, a very BIG Thank you to Coco for sharing her Sporting Goods Selling Tips and Tricks!
Sporting Goods can be found for low prices and can reap great rewards. Why not add this exciting category to your online business?

Here is one last amazing score. She paid $20 for this at a garage sale.
Again, please join us on Wednesday, April 23rd
at 5 pm Pacific and you can.
If you are not a Queen’s Court member you may pre-purchase it here. If you can’t attend the live telephone call, don’t worry it will be recorded and available for download.
I want to update you all on those pharmacy bottles I bought for $1 each. What a total score. I feel funny saying that after Cindy’s total score but I will still do it.
Four of them sold at auction for $237.78!!! And the one I pictured in the last ezine, Vomica Poison, ended up selling for $51.00. The one that sold for the most was this one.

Because the kids are out on Spring Break this week, we filmed the next video in our listing series this past Sunday. It is called “Assembly Line Listing….A.L.L. or Nothing” and the footage is hysterically funny. Indy has been editing and working on it like crazy this week and it is going to be, not only super educational but hopefully super entertaining.
We had quite the cast of characters for this one. Mo was back (thank GOD), Indy, myself, Tina Burke popped in, and my brother, Uncle Lee. It made for a fun (and long) day of filming. But we hope the effort will help you see how we can list things so quickly. Don’t forget that we have been building up to this video with many other videos and if you just purchase this one, you will be missing many pieces of the puzzle….Here is the chronological order so far…..
Here is a photo of Mo, Tina and I during filming. It is hysterical because Mo has some weird little doll that she is trying to scare Tina with. OMG. Whatever!!!
During this video filming, I listed 52 items. Pretty darn good if I do say so myself. The items I listed were the items we photographed for “Shooting Gallery” back in January. The reason it took us so long to get to this video was because of my broken foot. Thank goodness that is all over and we are back to business as usual. What a relief!
Here is one of the items that already had a bid by the time we wrapped shooting for the day. Indiana you rock!
