Volume V  Issue 00009

I was in the store working hard this past week.  No crazy stories to share!  We did get the store looking great thanks to Kevin.  Kevin has been a great help to us these past few months.  Here he is moving a chaise lounge down the alley and into the store.  It sold 10 minutes later.  That is what JIT is all about.  JIT is a term from my MBA days and it means Just in Time!

Speaking of getting a Master’s Degree, Houston started Law School at Pepperdine this past Monday.  I am sooooo proud of him!  I asked him for photos, but did not get any :(….So went to the Pepperdine Law School Instagram page and found some photos, but couldn’t see him in any of them.  Houston, are you really going to Law School?

Oh, I just remembered that Indiana told me that Houston got to campus one day (on his bike) and wondered why everyone was wearing suits….apparently it was class photo day and he had to borrow a sports coat from the dean :).  That’s my kid!

eBay has been picking up speed.  Yipppeeee!  If you can believe it we just sold these two salad forks for $150.  That is $75 each.  Crazy!  They were beautiful, but seriously?

You can check out the listing here.

For those of you in the Bellingham area, Teresa Meurs is having my mom’s estate sale this upcoming weekend.  Please attend!  There are some great items and bargains to be had!

Friday 8/23, Saturday 8/24 and Sunday 8/25 at Bellinger Storage on Midway in Bellingham, WA in units #4, #22 and #360.  Start time 10 am.

My mom celebrated her 88th birthday this past Sunday with friends in Bellingham.  We will have a birthday party for her and a going away party once her house sells.  Hopefully soon!  This is the photo that I shared on Instagram/Facebook to wish her a happy birthday.  It was taken a few years ago with my kids and she still looks great!

Even though my week was not real eventful, I did manage to hang out on Saturday night at Tony’s Pizzeria with Sandy, Marian and some new friends.  It was fun!

The hardest part about going out on Saturday night after a long work week is leaving this little face.  Awwwwww.

Then on Tuesday we hosted a Baby Shower Luncheon for Martha at the Harbor Cove Cafe.  I had never been there and it is awesome!  Will definitely return!

Martha is having a baby boy due on October 1st.  She will work as much as she can until then, so please stop in and wish her well.

The Lynn’s Consignment girls all showed up for her and it was a blast!  From left to right, Tina, Cindy, Sandy, Martha, me, Peggy, Sendia and Susan.  We missed you Val and Whale!

Martha received some really fun gifts…including a custom baby onesie created by Sandy.

Time for another eBay score!  I bought a boxed set of these cute napkin ring holders about six months ago.  I decided not to sell them as a set because many times you will get more money for the parts or pieces than you can sell the entire set for.  Some reasons…the buyer only wanted a specific one because they collect rabbits…or their set was missing one piece…etc.

These sets sell on eBay for between $100 and $200 and I sold this ONE for $110.  Score!  Check it out here.

Don’t forget about our Design Service.

Do you have a space in your home that needs a refresh or a bit of rearranging? Some ideas….

Susan Wheelan and I will come out for a 30 minute consult for a flat $50 fee within Ventura. We will design a plan and will return and stage your project with items from your home, the store and others we source. You get to live with the design for 48 hours and may purchase the items you wish to keep and a 20% design fee will be added. You are under no obligation to purchase anything.

In addition to utilizing some of your existing decor, imagine how amazing some new throw pillows, throw blankets, art, decor, rugs and lamps can do to refresh a tired area of your home.

This is a service designed to be fun for all with the end result being a refreshed and beautiful space! Once you have purchased, please call or come in the store to schedule your consultation!

These are before and after photos of one of our jobs. The entire refresh was done for $1,700 plus a 20% design fee of $340. A Bargain!

Back to my Bellingham trip last week…..One of my classmates, Byron Priebe, is an artist and at our mini reunion, he was giving away some of his artwork.  So sweet.  I picked out one that spoke to me and framed it and have it displayed in my house.  Fun!

Interesting side story….Byron’s dad was an art teacher at our high school.  I loved all of my art classes and even won an award as a senior…my ceramic vase won the school wide 7 arts award (it was pretty prestigious) and I wanted to go to art school at USC.  My dad told me in no uncertain terms that if I didn’t go to business school at USC, he wouldn’t be paying.  I wonder what my life would have been like if I had followed that passion.

Speaking of that mini reunion, Kurt Lunde (who’s barn the party took place in) text me yesterday with this photo and the caption…

“New addition for next year.  Modified to run with Alexa”

Yes, we are already planning next year’s mini-reunion!  I told Kurt how our reunion had inspired my mom to do something more fun like we did for their next one and that she is looking for a classmate with a barn.  He text me back and offered to let my mom and her classmates use his barn.  How sweet is that?

He did then text me and say…..

“I honestly have no problem with a reunion for 80 somethings.  I imagine they don’t stay up until 3 am.  I think I went to bed at 4 am and Druann was the last to leave at 3am.”  Hahahaha!   Kurt is the best!

Since we have a Foe (if you missed last weeks ezine you can read about the foe here) in our midst, I can’t leave anything in the parking lot.  We did have a make an offer pile, that I may no longer have, so these items are now free.  Please take them off of our hands!  Thanks 🙂

We need to make room in the store for new and exciting items.  Because of this, I have drastically reduced the prices of the two bathroom vanities in the back garage and the brown leather sofa and love seat.

Here are the two vanity bases.  Think about putting a cutting board block on top of each one for your kitchen or to use as storage.  The white one is now $295 (originally $695) and the brown one is $145 (originally $395).

Both are brand new and do have their hardware.  Because they are brand new, for shipment, the handles/hardware are placed on the inside.

Here are the brown leather (I think) sofa/futons that are drastically marked down.  The brown sofa (has a small slit in the side) and was originally brand new.  Damage happened in the store and original price was $995 (retail was close to $2k)  It is currently $145.  Ottomanson Living Room Sofa Bed Brown

The love seat size futon was originally $695 (retail was close to $1.2k) and is now $95.  Check them out!  Ottomanson Living Room Love Seat Bed Brown

And in that light…..Thanks for all of your support these past six months!  We appreciate all of you…our consignors, customers, family and friends!
