Volume V  Issue 00008

Is it really back to school time already?  Yikes!  It seems like the summer just began.

I did travel to Washington once a month since May.  Four trips up to help my mom get her house ready to sell was kind of exhausting.  No bites yet on her house, but we did drop the price $100k and it is now at $899k. Fingers crossed!

This trip was more play time for me…than the past three so that was nice.

Started off in Marina del Rey on Thursday afternoon to drop off Cha Cha at the kid’s condo and then I took them out to lunch at Tony P’s to celebrate Houston’s birthday.

The kids drove me to LAX and I was back on a plane to Bellingham.  We were delayed out of Los Angeles so I didn’t get to my  mom’s house until about 10 pm.  Long day.

The next day, Friday, my mom and I crunched numbers, ran cash flows and strategized on how we could get her house sold quickly.  Hopefully, the price drop will do it!

That afternoon my mom and I were supposed to go to Mt. Vernon to a Dralle Family Reunion.  I had reached out to my Aunt Amy on Tuesday and asked her if it was still happening and I did not hear back from her, so I made other plans.

It was one of my best friends from high school’s birthday, Kathy Rutan, and some girls were meeting in Birch Bay for Happy Hour and dancing.  So off I went.  At about 3:30 I got a message from my Aunt Amy that it was still happening, but it was too late.  Bummer!

In any event, we had a great time celebrating Kathy and dancing to a live band.

The next day, Saturday, my mom was having her best friend from grade school over to sit on her deck.  My mom and Verlaine met in 1st grade (1944 yikes!) and have been as thick as thieves ever since.  Verlaine lives in Utah, so it was quite the treat.

Verlaine showed up with her daughter Karen, son Jeff and daughter-in-law Kathy.  While we were chatting, Verlaine called her son, John, who was in my high school class and made me talk to him!  LOL.  I told him about the reunion later that day and he said he would try and make it.

We had to cut our meet and greet short as I needed to be in Ferndale at 4 pm to help set up for our Sehome High School Class of 1981 Mini Reunion.  We have decided to do these every year because they are sooooo much fun!

One of our classmates, Kurt Lunde, owns a HUGE barn with a full gourmet kitchen, living room and 10 classic cars.  No imports!  He graciously agreed to host the party and we decided on a potluck and BYOB.

Check out a few of his cars.

Once I posted the invite for the party on Facebook.  I got the greatest message from Dave Nugent.  I had been in charge of our 20 year reunion and I can’t believe Dave remembered that!

And Dave did show up with 4 big tables, 30 chairs, tablecloths, garbage cans, paper plates, cutlery, cups, and to go boxes.  He was a Godsend!

34 People showed up with amazing food…we had crab cakes, salmon, homemade salads, chicken, rolls, and tons of dessert.  Susie Hashisaki even made Nanaimo bars that were a hit!

Here is a shot of one of the tables at dinnertime.  From left to right, Leslie Arntzen, Carrie & Bill Caldwell, Les Lee, Dave Nugent and Walt Flint.

The Reunion was a blast!  Here is a shot of most of the 34 people who showed up!

Dave said it best on our group Facebook page after the event…

And here is a photo of that mini reunion committee in one of Kurt’s classic cars.

And guess who showed up?  John Van Horn…my mom’s best friend’s son.  Will miracles never cease?

Time for an eBay score!  You have probably heard me say that collector’s plates just don’t sell anymore.  It is not like the 1970’s when they were as hot as Beanie Babies!

In any event, some collector’s plates will bring big bucks.  You just have to be super picky and careful.  I love Arabia dinnerware and their collector’s plates do sell well.  We just sold this one for a best offer of $70.  You can check out  the listing here.

I just mentioned to Cindy that people must be shopping for Christmas already, as this appears to be something that would make a great gift.

My grandmother made a fortune on collector’s plates in the 1970’s.  I must share story #90  from “eBay Money Making Madness” the 2nd book in my 100 Best Series about some expensive plates.

Vicki Cratzenburg and Stacey Davis drove me out to my mom’s house after the reunion.  Thanks Girls!  We were some of the last ones standing and left Kurt’s around midnight.  Here is a shot of everyone at the end.

From left to right, Druann Sophusson, Kelly Magruder, Susie Hashisaki, Kurt Lunde, Diane Korunda, Leaslie Arntzen, Vicki Cratzenburg, Stacey Davis, Jodi Guthrie, Dave Nugent and Kathy Rutan.

Just so you know, I do these names for my mom….otherwise she will call me and ask me who everyone is….HAHAHA!

The next day, Sunday, I flew back to LAX.  Whirlwind trip.  Glad I won’t be doing that anytime soon..unless my mom’s house sells and then I will be back up there to help.

Arrived back in LA at 5:30 and took an uber to the kids condo, where I picked up Cha Cha and headed back to Ventura.  Another long travel day.  It is nice to be home!

And time for another eBay score. This one belongs to my mom.  It was a Rya rug that she and my dad bought in Sweden in 1960 and she never finished it.  Sold it as is on eBay for a best offer of $340.  You can check out the listing here.

Check out this message my mom put in with the rug….

PARKING LOT…and this is where the “Friends, Family and Foes” ezine subject comes into play.  As you know I had a wonderful time this past week with my friends and family.  But during the past few months, we have encountered a Foe at the store.  A new residential tenant has moved in and he is not a happy camper.  Doing everything he can to make our lives miserable at the store.  Just what we need….ugh!

So, this is your warning.  He has one parking space and it is the center spot.  He will have your car towed so please don’t park in his one spot.  It is clearly marked.  Why can’t people just be nice?  And please don’t confront him if you figure out who he is…we don’t want to poke the bear.

EXCITING NEWS……We will be having an in person eBay course on Thursday, August 22nd from 3 to 6 pm and Mo will be joining me to teach!  Mo has been my eBay assistant for 20 years and she knows more than me…sometimes!

Learn more and sign up here.

Here we are back in 2005 at eBay Live in San Jose.  From left to right, Russel, Griff (the famous eBay spokesperson) with me, Jesse and Mo at the B52 concert!  Fun times!

Since we have a Foe in our midst, I can’t leave anything in the parking lot.  We did have a make an offer pile, that I may no longer have, so these items are now free.  Please take them off of our hands!  Thanks 🙂

We need to make room in the store for new and exciting items.  Because of this, I have drastically reduced the prices of the two bathroom vanities in the back garage and the brown leather sofa and love seat.

Here are the two vanity bases.  Think about putting a cutting board block on top of each one for your kitchen or to use as storage.  The white one is now $295 (originally $695) and the brown one is $145 (originally $395).

Both are brand new and do have their hardware.  Because they are brand new, for shipment, the handles/hardware are placed on the inside.

Here are the brown leather (I think) sofa/futons that are drastically marked down.  The brown sofa (has a small slit in the side) and was originally brand new.  Damage happened in the store and original price was $995 (retail was close to $2k)  It is currently $145.  Ottomanson Living Room Sofa Bed Brown

The love seat size futon was originally $695 (retail was close to $1.2k) and is now $95.  Check them out!  Ottomanson Living Room Love Seat Bed Brown

Volume V  Issue 00007

The new Peanuts Baggu Collection landed in the store yesterday.  Come in and check it out! Sooooo cute and it won’t last long.  We have already sold a bunch!

OMG!  A new customer, Jocelyne, from Santa Paula just came in the shop for the new Baggu.  She knew about it because one of our customers from this morning put us on a huge Baggu page and we have gone VIRAL!  Thank you unknown customer and Jocelyne!

I promised I would share more from the I love the 90’s concert that Sandy and I went to at the fair last Wednesday night.  Sandy bought us VIP tickets as my birthday present.  So sweet!

First up was C&C Music Factory.  “Everybody Dance Now”.

Next was Tone Loc with “Wild Thing” and “Funky Cold Medina”. I was cracking up because my best friend from high school, Melanie, loves all of these bands. I was texting her from the concert. Wish she could have been there!

After Tone Loc was the Sugar Hill Gang with “Rapper’s Delight”.  This was definitely one of Melanie’s favorite songs.  Mel and I used to go up to Canada to drink when we were in college (drinking age was only 19) and I just remember her dancing to that song at The Ocean Beach in White Rock, B.C. back in the day.  My boyfriend was the DJ.  Such great memories!

Sandy thought the Sugar Hill Gang were the best of the bunch!

The concert ended with Vanilla Ice and his “Ice Ice Baby”.  Everyone knows that song!  Super fun night!

Friday night the Palm Desert girls arrived for the weekend.  They got in around 7:30 and we headed downtown for dinner at Rice by Momma.  After dinner, we had a cocktail at the Star Lounge.  Great kickoff to a fun weekend!

Time for an eBay score before you hear about the rest of our epic weekend!  As I have been cleaning out my office and moving it into my main house, I decided to part with A LOT of stuff.

Another reason I am parting with a ton of stuff is that seeing how much my mother has accumulated over the years makes me want to pare down now so that my kids don’t have to do it.  Houston & Indiana you are welcome!

Check out this cool Bethlehem sign that I have been carrying around for a few years.  Took a best offer of $90.  You can check out the listing here.

Don’t forget about our design services.  Susan just went out on a new consult in Yorba Linda yesterday!

If you want to learn more about this fun design service, please click here.

One more fun eBay score. Last week I sold a random coffee mug that had been listed since 2016. Yikes! It sold for $31.19.

Check out the listing here.

People always marvel at how we can sell used coffee mugs for so much money.  The text I got after the sale will tell you all you need to know.

Someone breaks a coffee mug that they LOVE & they will pay any price to replace it.  If any of you are interested in taking my in person eBay class, let me know and I can schedule a new class.

Back to the girls weekend.  Saturday we just hung out at the house and watched a movie.  Then we ubered in to the fair grounds as we were going to see Dustin Lynch VIP with Sandy and Sendia. Here we are at the entrance.

My friend Max had the funniest comment that he posted on my Facebook…..

“That is a REALLY GREAT photo.  Like a Charley’s Angel Theme.  Totally needs to be framed and put up.”  LOL!

Then the five of us squeezed into a photo booth for a picture.  We were cracking up…It didn’t turn out so great!

The Dustin Lynch concert was soooooo amazing and we were right up front!  He pointed at me and Sandy thinks he pointed at her.  Hahaha!

Sunday, the girls and I went to lunch at The Lookout and then they headed back to the desert.  Fun, but short weekend!

Monday, Sendia came to Fit Buddha with Sandy and me.  She did great, but admitted that it was a super hard workout!  We did do Martini Monday afterwards at Lure.  LOL!

The fun never ends around here….  The next day, Tuesday 8/05, was Cha Cha’s 4th Birthday.  She is a true Ventura Girl, being born here in our city and having an 805 Birthday.  Here is my post on social media.

You have to read the comments on that Facebook post from a few of my friends.  LOL! I am dying 🙂

I took Cha Cha down to Port Hueneme to run on the beach.  I think she had a wonderful day!  She is so fast…it is like she is flying.

As you read this ezine today, I am driving to Marina del Rey to celebrate my son Houston’s 28th Birthday, which I totally screwed up.

Let me explain.  Houston turned 28 on July 10th, but he was walking the Camino in Spain with friends.  Here is a cute photo from Emma’s Insta.

Back to how I screwed up.  I always ask my kids for Birthday lists so that I can get them EXACTLY what they want.  They put their lists in a Google doc so it can be shared.  I lost Houston’s list so I asked Emma (his girlfriend) to send it to me again.

Well, the one she shared had two tabs.  I didn’t pay attention and I opened his last year’s Christmas list of which he already has EVERYTHING.

I just spent $300 plus postage on stuff that CAN NOT be returned and he already owns.  UGHHHHHH!  I wrapped it all anyway and hopefully we can laugh about this later today!  I hope some of you can relate….It is soooo hard to be a parent!  Even when your kids are grown.

Here is my social post from Houston’s Birthday…How cute is he with Pete Carrol?

I have an alternative reason for heading to the Marina today…it is to drop of the Cha with my kids so that I can fly to Bellingham…..again.

Yes, to help my mom, but also for a Dralle Family Reunion on Friday and a mini High School Reunion on Saturday.

I have been to Bellingham every month for the last 4 months.  I won’t be going back again until my mom’s house sells and we have a combined Going Away and 88th Birthday Party for her.  All this travel has been exhausting!

Before I forget, we just got in the most wonderful collection of head vases.  Stop in and check them out!

080124 The Girls are Back in Town…Lynn’s Latest #06

Dear Gentle Reader (LOL)…guess what series I am watching?

I have been very vigilant about sending out an email every Thursday with new arrivals and then trying to write a long ezine once a month.  The long ezines take me a looooooong time.  I am asking for your input and advice.

Here is what I am thinking.  I will continue to send out an email every Thursday that will ALWAYS include new arrivals, but going forward those will now be called…Lynn’s Latest ezine.  That way I can put the recent shenanigans in each week and add some eBay scores without having to write a tome at the end of each month.

I am testing it with you this week.  Please let me know your thoughts!  They are much appreciated and as always I thank you for taking the time to read these!  AND I think I am going to start numbering them differently.  Instead of this one being #00006…I think it will just be issue #107 or however many I have written since back in 2020.

Welcome to Lynn’s Latest #00006

Sendia and I just redid the Yellow and Black &White Vignettes.  The yellow one turned out super cute!

I had a fun weekend. I worked on Saturday and then on Sunday, we went up to Ojai to see the musical “Into the Woods” directed by Douglas Ladnier. He is extremely talented and in addition to directing he also played Prince Charming.

Here we are at lunch before the show. From left to right. Sendia, Peggy, me, Marian and Sandy.

The show was fantastic!  It has three more runs this weekend.  Here is a link to purchase tickets.  And we got a pic with Douglas afterwards.

Then on Monday, I headed up to Carp to spend the day on the beach with Val and her family.  They rented a beach front condo for a week.  Soooooo much fun!

Here I am with Val and her daughter Summer. Love these people!

Then on Tuesday, Susan and I met with our newest design client.  Such a beautiful house right on the beach.  Can’t wait to show you the before and after photos!

If you want to learn more about this fun design service, please click here.

Last week we sold a Christmas item on eBay. Yes, it is true…there is such a thing as Christmas in July! I bought this brooch Christmas Tree Art piece for $20 at a garage sale and just sold it for $215. Yippeee Skipppy!
