Welcome to Lynn’s Latest #10…

March 19, 2020
Watch for it every Thursday or every OTHER Thursday!
Volume I  Issue 10

This past week has been crazy….and not in a good way!  I seriously can’t believe that the Corona Virus is happening…..Ughhhhhh!  It feels like in the past week, life as we know it has changed.

I have been going through all of the emotions….disbelief, anger, panic, etc., and yet there have been feelings of calmness, gratefulness, and joy.  What?  You may be thinking.

Instead of letting the fear take over, I have decided to look at this from a grateful point of view.

1.  My kids are both home for a long period of time (that wasn’t going to happen any time soon).  My son’s girlfriend Emma and Indy’s boyfriend Brandon are also here.  We also have Carlos!

2.  We are hanging out and enjoying each other’s company.  Cooking family meals (well Houston cooks not me), playing board games, watching movies and laughing A LOT!

Here I am with Carlos, Emma, Houston, and Indy doing an in-home face mask evening at home.  Sorry for the crazy bug-eyed filter!  But, we are actually having fun…I hope you are as well as you spend time with your family!

3.  I have my eBay business to focus on if we have to close the store.

4.  For now, the store is open.  We definitely won’t have more than 10 people in at one time and since it is so big, there is plenty of room for social distancing.

5.  This is a great time for me to paint furniture and I am super motivated and fired up after spending time with Annie Sloan this past Saturday….more on that later!

6.  It is a chance for all of us to be EXTRA helpful, kind, caring, and compassionate to others.

I am sorry that my mom is back in Bellingham, but it is the best place for her to be for now.  Here is a photo that I like of my mom and me from the anniversary party.

My son flew home from OKC last Thursday night and Emma picked him up at LAX.  He really wanted to go to Disneyland and they had planned on going on Monday.  However, Disney announced that their last day was this past Friday, so I got a hotel room for them in Anaheim and they hit the Park on Friday.  They had a blast.

Houston is off for Spring break from teaching High School at Mt. Saint Mary’s and was supposed to fly back today, March 19th.  His school has postponed classes until April 7th, so I think we have got him for the foreseeable future!  Good news for me, because he is an excellent chef!

I didn’t get a chance to see Houston before I left for Redlands on Friday at 1 pm.  The Annie Sloan event was still going to happen as planned on Saturday.  I was thrilled to get a chance to meet the one and only, the woman, the myth, the legend!  She hasn’t been on the west coast in almost ten years.

My GPS took me way out and around LA. I ended up on the Pear Blossom Highway and drove through ski resorts…it was wild!  I think I was close to Wrightwood where I used to ski with my ex-husband back in the day.

In fact, I even went skiing there once with him, Dean Factor (great-grandson of Max and best man in our wedding), and his then-girlfriend, Shannon Doherty.  LOL!  I will have to find that photo to share with you!  But for now, this one from my drive will have to do.

It took me 3 1/2 hours to get to Redlands.  Once I checked into my hotel, I headed over to the Red Rooster Vintage to say hi to Linda and Britta.  They are the dynamic mother and daughter duo that owns the store and have been appearing on the Brett Waterman show, Restored.

That is how they got Annie to So Cal….Annie filmed the TV show with Brett and the Red Rooster bunch for the 3 days leading up to the event.  The show is called “Restored” and can be found on the DIY network, streamed on Amazon, reruns on HGTV and Magnolia.  Here are Linda, Brett, and Britta.

After saying hi to Linda and Britta, I had dinner at The State on State Street.   Redlands is soooo cute!  Then I went back to my hotel to watch the Pepperdine Improv Troupe’s Facebook Live Stream of their PIT show that had been canceled due to the coronavirus.

It was really fun to see them do their stuff and they all looked so happy!  That is my crazy daughter getting right in front of the camera!

Before I get to my time with Annie, let’s check out the store!  Here is a Gorgeous Beige Sleeper Sofa (Made in America) that is priced at $695.00…super nice!

I will be working to get some of our furniture listed for sale on the website in the next few days.  That way you can shop from home!

And now for an eBay score before I get to the Annie Sloan meet and greet!  I bought a bunch of these collectible house models (not very big) at a garage sale about a year ago.  I paid $1 to $2 each.  It sold for the best offer of $40!  Yowza!

https://tinyurl.com/lakeviewebay

OK!  Now details from my wonderful day meeting Annie Sloan!  Before the event, the stockists (that is what she calls her stores that ‘stock’ the paint) got to meet individually with Annie.  What a treat!  There were only 4 of us there.  AND she is just as darling and lovely in person as you would imagine!

After our meeting, Annie did an hour-long painting presentation to the public.  It was incredible!  I learned so much more about the history of her paint, different techniques, and why she does things a certain way.  I can’t wait to share what I learned with you all!

After her presentation, we got to hang out with Annie for quite some time.  She even showed me how to add “Annie Sloan” GIFs to my Instagram stories.  Seriously?  She is amazing!  She autographed our store’s big “Annie Sloan” book so please take a look at it next time you are in.

Annie hadn’t been to the West Coast in almost 10 years so it was such a treat to meet her.  I hated to leave Redlands but had to head back home to Ventura on Saturday night because on Sunday we would be caravaning to Pepperdine to pack up Indiana and bring her home..

Here are the kids after we moved her out and they had finished vacuuming.  The kids include Emma, Houston, Indy, and her roommate Carmen.  Carmen is from the Seattle area and Indy and Carmen were suite mates freshman year.  We love Carmen!  When we first met her at Pepperdine move-in weekend, I said to her “It is wonderful for Indy to have a roommate from Washington”.  Carmen, who is super witty says “It was meant to B’ham”!  LOL…we are originally from Bellingham and its nickname is B’ham.

They look happy in the picture but definitely were NOT.

This was more the mood as Indy and Carmen walked out of Lovernich A29 for the last time…..Ughhhhh!  Breaks my heart.

OK, back to the store.  Check out the new window display we did yesterday.  Pink, mauve, white, gold, and silver.  Sooooo pretty & happy.  Stop in to see it!  And if you can’t do that, please drive by and honk to let us know you are there!

Here is a close-up of that amazing pink sofa and the newly redone corner cabinet in Antoinette and the wander IOD transfer.  Yes, there are lots of tools in this picture as we were changing out the hardware on the cabinet.  (Don’t forget we sell tons of cool knobs)  The sofa is $895 and the corner cabinet is $395.  So fun!

Back to an eBay score.  I think I have a “Pink” theme going here.  Si or no?  I bought this Jasper ware plaque at a local Ventura garage sale for a couple of dollars back in December.  Sold it for the best offer of $70.00!

CARLOS’ Corner…..the little guy is really settling in.  We just LOVE him!

He thinks that he is a dog.  He plays fetch with us…seriously!…he brings us balls, bracelets, dixie cups, (actually anything that he can carry in his mouth)…drops it at your feet, and waits for you to throw it.  I will post some videos in the next newsletter because it is HILARIOUS!

Here he is with Houston and Indiana!

Here he is chilling with my newly autographed Annie Sloan books!  He is also a HUGE FAN!

Now, let’s check out some of the new fun furnishings that came into the store recently.  These slip-covered Wing Back chairs are very well made and darling….$195 each.

Unfinished Bench is handmade by a local Ventura artist and is priced at $249.50.

Joy Goldowitz is a teaching dynamo! Her course “Calligraphy: The Art of Beautiful Lettering” originally scheduled for this Saturday, March 21st has also been postponed. I will let you know the new date as soon as we are given the all-clear!

Staying home gives all of us a great chance to work on projects, redo rooms and get organized. Don’t forget that all of the amazing IOD products are also available online and we can get to you curbside or deliver for free in Ventura!

Here is a link to the IOD products.

One last photo of a few new things that have come into the store.  The 1970’s TV trays are amazing and priced at just $19.50 each (we have 3).  The darling end table that Sandy painted in Amsterdam Green and English Yellow with the Lemon IOD transfer is only $125.  The teal bar stools rotate and are priced at $39.50 (we have 2).

The green end table reminded me to share this hysterical St. Patrick’s day photo of the kids.  They had ordered green wigs and were all set to go out to Dargan’s Irish Pub….but of course, that didn’t happen.  They still managed to have a great time at home!

Fun side note to this picture, check out that “teal” lamp that Carmen is holding.  She went all teal during Freshman year at Pepperdine…we are talking way toooooo much teal.  She brought the lamp to Ventura to paint it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.  Yes, you can paint anything and as Annie, herself says, “Paint everything”!

Here is the after shot of the lamp done in Chateau Gray.

Here is one last shot of some new pieces in the store. The dresser is priced at $349.50. The swivel recliner is $449.50 and I believe it is custom Wayfair and brand new.

One last eBay score!  I bought this set of Wedgwood dinnerware years ago.  I sold these four dinner plates for $200.  Yipppeeee!

https://tinyurl.com/wedgwoodmistral

I am always looking for china and flatware sets to buy. Call or text me 760-880-3535 if you have any of the brands that I am looking for in both dinnerware and flatware:

Villeroy & Boch
Christofle
Williams Sonoma

and in flatware but NOT dinnerware:

On the road to meet Annie Sloan!… Lynn’s Latest #9

Welcome to Lynn’s Latest #9…

March 12, 2020
Watch for it every Thursday or every OTHER Thursday!
Volume I  Issue 9

The people have spoken and it is OFFICIAL! We will now and forever be known as Lynn’s Latest!

This past week was a little less eventful than usual! Thank Goodness! On Wednesday night, my mom, Emma, and I went to the Cliff House hotel’s restaurant, The Shoals. We had never been and it was EXCELLENT! I will be returning.

Thursday, my mom and I took the day off!  Is that even a thing?  A day off?  Apparently, there is such a thing! We headed up to Ojai for lunch at the Mexican restaurant, complete with Margaritas :).

While at lunch, I remembered that I needed to stop by Kitty Bartholomew’s house and pick up some things for the shop.  I texted her and she said, “come on by around 3ish”.  What a treat!  For those of you who don’t know who Kitty is, she hosted the original HGTV design show….”You’re Home”!

Check out Kitty and my mom in her darling kitchen!  Red, White, Green, and Black.  She is still the design Queen!

Here is my car loaded with treasures from Kitty’s personal stash!  Stop by the store and I will point them out to you 🙂

Check out this new and improved Beachy Display that Emma & Sandy worked on while the store was closed.  That is about the only time we can get any real display work accomplished.  We have been so busy in the store and are super grateful for all of your wonderful customers and consignors.  The white slip-covered sofa sleeper is only $695!

The date of today’s ezine, March 12th, is a day I will never forget.  Eight years ago today, my little sister, Kiki, passed away from Cancer.  It seems so long ago, and yet like it was yesterday.

Here is a snippet from an ezine I wrote on February, 14th 2012.

My sister is still hanging in there. She is amazing! I have been updating The Queen’s Court on an almost daily basis. One of our awesome members (Bobbie) sent this message…

Lynn,

Thanks for the update and glad to hear that your dear mother took a break and hope she is doing more of that every night. Is Lee there for the weekend? Take lots of pictures while the entire family is there. Prayers are still going out for every one. Hugs too!

–Bobbie Quandt, Colorado

Bobbie was at Live Boot Camp for several years and also attended the most recent boot camp we held at HQ. She is part of our family.

So, last night, my brother was packing to leave to go back home to LA. I said to my family, “A Queen’s Court member said we should take lots of family pictures.” I grabbed my mom, dad, Lee, and a hospice volunteer, Dianne (who knew my grandmother and helped her pick out the shiny beaded jacket she wore to my wedding–small town 🙂 and we took a few photos with Kiki. Check out her smile. Every single nurse, volunteer, friend, visitor, and doctor that comes into her room always gets that HUGE wonderful smile from her. Even if she doesn’t know you. My sister is amazing.”

My sister was in the Whatcom County Hospice House in Bellingham, WA from January 4, 2012, until she passed away on March 12, 2012.  During that time, we practically lived there with her.  Seriously, we moved in with blow-up beds, etc. and I am so grateful that we had that time with her.

Her service was on Sunday, March 18th, 2012 at the Alaska Ferry Terminal in Bellingham Washington.

Over 250 people attended including two Queen’s Court members, Bev Helton and Carol Dittrich. Thank you, ladies! We even read a special message from Victoria in Bakersfield. Here is what she said.

“Kiki’s spirit has been set free, and she can once again walk, run and even fly, alone or with the angels. In my mind, she is dancing to Duran Duran, her beautiful red hair blowing in a gentle breeze, eternally barefoot with a fresh pedicure, and lifting a beer and a great big smile towards Bellingham in honor of her loving family and friends. She knows how much you loved her, and she will be watching over all of you, and sending an occasional message in her own special way.”

Here is the picture from the front of her program with her boys Zach (age 5 then) and Kai (age 3 then).

OK…that was tough…  Every year on the anniversary of my sister’s passing, I watch her memorial service and I am so grateful to John Mortensen for filming it for us.

If you care to watch, here is the link to her celebration of life.

Now on to eBay and a score to brighten this rainy day.  I bought this crazy HUGE wall decoration in Palm Desert at a really WEIRD estate sale for $2.  It sold for the best offer of $60!  https://tinyurl.com/r42u3o4

Ironic that I chose to share this score.  My sister passed away from Lung Cancer.  Kiki (Kristin) started smoking as a teenager and she just couldn’t quit.  Not even after her dog, Caesar had to have 1/2 of his lung removed from secondhand smoke…and he eventually passed away from lung cancer.  I have heard that it is as addictive as heroin.  I get it….but if you smoke, please stop.

But back to happy things, I went to an Art Gallery Showing at H Gallery (my friend Rodrigo owns the gallery) with my friends Jeff and Joanne Carolan.  Their friend Mary Neville was showing that night and her work is incredible.

Here is a Google Image Search for her work….https://tinyurl.com/tgtp5pt

OK, but back to the store!  Here is a tiny peek into one of our new vignettes…with colorful art.  One of the pieces in this display came from Kitty Bartholomew!

I love the Time Hop app on my phone!  Check out this photo that popped up from exactly 5 years ago this week.  This is Houston (#6) covering 1st base at a tournament in San Diego.  Indiana elaborated on the photo for her Snapchat story with “Goosie (his nickname) G putting in the work”  LOL!  I miss those travel baseball days!

Back to an eBay score.  I bought a set of really neat faux horn flatware at an estate sale for $25.  Sold half the set for $178.29 on eBay last week.  Yaya!

https://tinyurl.com/soldcutlery

Last week was Pepperdine’s Spring Break, but Indy couldn’t come home because of rehearsals for the Spring Play.  She and Brandon (her boyfriend) came home on Friday night and the first picture I took was of her and Carlos…..

As I was writing this newsletter on Wednesday morning, my phone rang and it was Indiana.  My heart fell.  I had a feeling Pepperdine was going to do something stupid and shut down the campus.  Ughhhhh….on the other end of the line was my Indy girl crying and being very angry.

They just canceled everything she cares about.  Her performance in the Contempo Cabaret show is scheduled for March 28th, her role of  Charlotta Ivanovna (the most eccentric character) in Chekov’s Cherry Orchard Play is scheduled for April 15th….etc.

All kids must be moved out of University housing by Sunday.  Classes will be taught remotely, but as Indy said “How do I take a Voice and Movement class on the computer?”   Mass hysteria?  I think so.  I am sooooooo over this!

Indy’s Summer abroad to participate in the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh Scotland in jeopardy.  Pepperdine will make a decision on this sometime in April.   Ughhhh.

Here is Indy in her most recent leading role as Carmen in Curtains.  Unfortunately, that musical ran ONE night ONLY due to the Woolsey fires.  Can’t these kids catch a break?

OK, thank you for letting me vent! and now back to the store….

Our next Annie Sloan paint class will be held on Saturday, April 4th from 10:30 to 12:30 ish. The cost is $69. Spaces are limited so sign up here now.

You will create 3 Sample Boards with different finishes to take with you and all the confidence and knowledge you need to go home and tackle any project!!! Can’t wait to see you and help you learn about the….. BEST PAINT IN THE WORLD!!!

Check out the before of this dresser.  Needs TLC wouldn’t you say?

Here is the after…. with Annie Sloan Paris Gray Paint and the Japonica Iron Orchid Design Transfer…some new drawer pulls (not in this photo but please drive by the store and see it in the front window!) and we are good to go at $295!  Watch for it in our new window display next week….Light pink and grey.  It is going to be EPIC!

Amazing News!  Annie Sloan is coming to So Cal and I am on my way to meet her!   My friends, Linda and Brita, at Red Rooster Vintage in Redlands have pulled it off!  I am so proud of them and super excited to meet Annie in person!

Saturday, March 14th at 1 pm I will be in Redlands and I encourage you to attend as well!  Let’s get a caravan going from Ventura!

OK, time for another eBay score because…they are fun!  I bought this yearbook at a sale for $5.  Yearbooks, Annuals…whatever you want to call them can sell for big bucks!

Since I have had this one listed for over 2 years on eBay, I took the best offer of only $30.  Oh well, 6 x my initial investment and it is OUT OF HERE!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/401417156740

CARLOS’ Corner…..the little guy is about 5 months old and we just LOVE him!

My friend Joanne is going to start a weekly ezine for her business and came over on Tuesday to see how my process works.  I was happy to share!  So was Carlos…check out these “Carlos in action helping me write” photos that Joanne took.  LOL!

Now, let’s check out some of the new fun furnishings that came into the store recently.  This blue sectional is divine and priced at $795.  The amazing ottoman is $295 and the Kazi baskets on the wall are from a fair trade company that pays each of the African weavers a living wage.  See you soon!  The store is constantly changing and evolving faster and faster!

For those of you who don’t know, the prices on our consigned items go down 20% every 30 days…for two markdowns.  Now, that makes shopping FUN!

Don’t forget that most of our gift items can now be purchased on our website! Emma just started adding our driftwood items to the website.  For the next 48 hours…anything purchased on our website will ship for FREE.  Yes, I did say that out loud….Free shipping ends at 10 am on Saturday….  Check our online store with the link below.    If the website charges you shipping, please call us and we will adjust that cost  805-628-3289

On our only day closed, Sandy, Emma, and I came in to redo some of the stores. We have been so busy lately that it was our only chance to get things looking “Bueno”! We redid the Annie Sloan and IOD section and I LOVE the results!

One last photo from the store because it looks soooooo good!  Check out this super fun “pink” display….just so you know & if you don’t remember…the next window display will be light pink and gray…so excited for this segue into Spring.

Again…..A Happy New Decade from Lynn’s Consignments team to you and your family!   We hope to see you soon!

Pictured…Katie, Sandy, Indiana, me, Val, Adolio, Peggy, and Mor Mor!

Lynn’s Latest #8… We spent the night with Martin Sheen 😉

Welcome to Lynn’s Latest #8…

Watch for it every Thursday or every OTHER Thursday!
Volume I  Issue 8

The people have spoken and it is OFFICIAL! We will now and forever be known as Lynn’s Latest!

This past week was even more eventful than usual….LOL! Thursday morning Jo Dallas and I headed up to Summerland, checked out Field & Fort, Garde, and said hi to Mary Suding! I love this lady. Her antique store is amazing and she reminds me so much of my grandma. Then we ate lunch at the Summerland Beach Cafe before picking my mom up at the shuttle. Thursday evening Emma, Jo Dallas, my mom, and I headed out to Prime for Dinner. Love that restaurant! and Christina is the best bartender ever!

Friday was crunch time in the store.  It was a HOT mess and we had to have it perfect for our anniversary party this past Sunday!

Jo, my mom, Emma, and I worked so hard.  We were exhausted.  Then we headed home to order take out and wait for my other high school best friend, Kathy Rutan, to arrive.  Her plane landed at 10 pm and I had my LAX driver Jose pick her up.  She didn’t get to my house until midnight, but it was so great to see her!

Saturday was another super busy day at the shop (as my grandmother used to call hers), but somehow we pulled it all together!  It was a miracle and the store looked incredible when we left at 6 pm.  Talking about my grandmother’s amazing shop makes me want to share another article about her….she was such an inspiration!  I miss her!

Here is that Asian display that Emma was working on in the last newsletter.  Turned out soooooo cute!

The Saturday night before the “big” anniversary party day, we had “big” plans.  Joanne Carolan (my USC Spain roommate) and awesome realtor https://www.remax.com/real-estate-agents/joanne-carolan-camarillo-ca/100036943 had invited us to the Berlin concert in Agoura.

Joanne and Jeff are friends with the lead singer, Terri Nunn, and we were on the guest list.  Jeff & Joanne picked us (me, Jo, Kathy, and Sandy) up in the Suburban party bus, and off we went.  OMG!

I had never been to the Canyon Club and it was sooooo much fun!  The concert was incredible and we had sat down at a table that turned out to be reserved.  The bouncers asked us to leave and just then, the man who had reserved the table, showed up….it was Martin Sheen and he asked us to please stay!  LOL!  Yes, we spent the night with Martin Sheen.  He is super sweet and his granddaughter, Paloma, is the drummer for Berlin.

Here is a photo of Kathy chilling with Martin.  I even bought him a ginger ale 🙂  Sooo much fun!

Here we are with Teri Nunn of Berlin backstage.  Quite the epic evening.  We didn’t get home until about 1:30 am and we were all dragging on Sunday morning.  Thank you Emma for opening so we could move slowly…..

The anniversary party was a BLAST!  For those of you who showed up, thank you!  For those of you who missed it, see you next year!

Here is a list of the door prizes and the winners:

11:00 am            Baggu                                     Billy Martin
Noon                  Chirpy Top                             June McTaggart
1:00 pm              $25 Gift Certificate             Susan Patterson
2:00 pm              Driftwood Peace Sign        Deborah Randolph
3:00 pm              Paint Class Seat                   Jordana
4:00 pm              $100 Gift Certificate           Allison Costa

The store opened on March 1st of 2018 in honor of my father and what should have been his 84th birthday.  I miss him so much!  He would so love my store and would have been so proud of all we have accomplished.  In honor of him and his silly sense of humor, I am pleased to share this photo of him from his 80th birthday which he spent with me, Houston, and Indy in Palm Desert.

We took him to a great steak house in Indio, CA, and made him wear this crazy attire.  He was such a great sport and he LOVED that birthday!  If you want to read more about that birthday here is a link to that ezine from 2014….http://www.thequeenofauctions.com/articlepages/ezinev10is04.html

Back to the 2nd Anniversary party, I hired Jaclyn Szabo, my friend Denise’s daughter, to take professional pictures.  I should have those back in a few weeks but here is a photo of me, Kathy Rutan, Jo Dallas, and Marty Mundell (all in Ventura from Bellingham) and we were in the same graduating class at …..

Sehome High School!  Crazy!

OK, but back to the store, because that is ultimately why were are here….. Right?  Check out this new vignette that we did for the Anniversary party.  The theme is Spring Garden!

I love my Time Hop app on my phone!  Check out this photo that popped up from exactly 5 years ago this week.  This is one of my favorite pictures of my kids and me at Houston’s Senior Football night at Xavier College Prep in Palm Desert, CA.  Those were great days!  I miss my kids 🙂

Speaking of Palm Desert, let’s get back to the Anniversary party!  I had two friends pop in from Palm Desert….Madudi Clark (a surprise) and my really good friend Lori Scalise who now lives in San Diego.  So much fun!

Here is my friend Lori hanging with Marty’s Dog Prince Willy.  I love this Portuguese Water Dog…so sweet!

Indy even made it home from Pepperdine for the Anniversary Party.  She arrived at 12:15 pm just in time for 45 minutes of professional photos…since I don’t have those back yet…I will share this one of her with Carlos!  Unfortunately, she had to go back to Pepperdine Sunday night since all this week is the Scotland Edinburgh Rehearsal for the Fringe Festival which (will hopefully) take place this August.

Monday morning after the party, all of my house guests, Lori, Emma, my mom, Jo and Kathy, and I went out to breakfast at Cafe Nouveau.  Love that restaurant!

Val (my first employee) and her husband Ron got some tough news this past month.  Ron was diagnosed with esophageal cancer.  Ughhhh!  This is what I wrote on the Go Fund Me Page that I created for their family.  Thank you to everyone who has so generously donated!  The account is up to $6,200!  Amazing!!!!

When I decided to open my furniture store in Ventura, I knew NO ONE.  Thank God for my realtor and former roommate from USC, Joanne Carolan.  Joanne immediately introduced me to her friend Valerie Harrington, who had always wanted to own a vintage store.

The rest is history….I couldn’t have wished for a better person to start my team.  She was, and is, instrumental in Lynn’s Consignment success.  I love this lady, as an employee, and as a friend.  I am sure that those of you in Ventura LOVE seeing her smiling face in the store,  her willingness to help, and the way she calls us all “honey”.

I have been included in so many aspects of her family….as a guest to her and her husband Ron’s daughter Taryn’s Wedding in October of 2018, Super Bowl Sunday spent at their home in 2019 with Ron cooking up his delicacies, and just sharing in their daily joys and struggles.  I am blessed to have both Ron and Val in my life.

That is why it is with a heavy heart that we have started this Go Fund Me Campaign.  Val had been worried about Ron for a while.  He had lost a lot of weight and fainted at a recent function.  After a scary incident at their home, he wound up in the ER where he was diagnosed with Esophageal cancer on January 22nd.  It is stage 2/3 and the tumor is about 6″ long.

Ron will start Chemotherapy the week of 2/25.  After a two-month intensive round of Chemo, he will rest for four weeks, and then they will operate to remove the tumor.

Time is of the essence as Ron is unable to work.  As the chemo takes its toil, Val will also have to spend more time away from the store.  The financial burden of this medical emergency on Val’s family is overwhelming and keeps them up at night with worry.

Cancer is a terrible diagnosis, but one that will NOT win against the Harrington family.  Our financial donations will help them to focus on this IMPORTANT battle and not spend their precious energy worrying about money or being able to afford treatment.

Please do anything you can to help the Harringtons. Let’s help Val and Ron smile again as they embark on this fight that they WILL WIN.
Time for some good news. How about an eBay score? I bought this baseball purse several years ago when Houston was playing travel baseball. I thought that this bag would be awesome to carry to games, but I never used it!

I listed it on eBay right before we moved from Palm Desert to Ventura about 2 years ago in 2018. It just sold for the best offer of $35. Patience on eBay does pay off!

OK, time for another eBay score because…they are fun!  I bought this boy scout jacket at a garage sale in Palm Springs for $5.00.  It has been listed since December 1, 2017 (literally right before I moved to Ventura) and I just took the best offer of $50 for it this week.  Score!

CARLOS’ Corner…..the little guy is about 4 1/2 months old and is sooooo long.  He is still just a kitten but when he stretches out….boy is he long and lean!  Here he is in one of his favorite spots, helping me to list on eBay and write ezines and eBooks.  I think he is pretty happy!

We bought him one of those “new-fangled” electric cleaning litter boxes and he will not use it.  Ughhhh!  I took away his “classic” litter box because I thought he was using it and lo and behold…he ended up peeing on my friend Kathy.  Ughhhh!  Does anyone have any advice for getting him to use the new one?

Now, let’s check out some of the new fun furnishings that came into the store recently.  This White Slip Covered Sofa is Beachy Fresh and is a Queen sleeper.  It is brand new and gorgeous.  It won’t last long at $695.

As I wrap up this newsletter, a big shout out to my mom, Sharon Chase!  She has been a HUGE part of my store’s success and my being able to open on time.  She works tirelessly to make sure we do everything right!  Thanks, MOM!  aka Mor Mor!  We LOVE you!

She will be flying back to Bellingham on Sunday, so if you get a chance stop in the store Thursday after 3:30, Friday, or Saturday to say “Hello” to her and “Bon Voyage”…..Here is one of my favorite photos of me and my mom when I was little.  She has a masters in home economics and used to sew all of our outfits.  I love these matching ones…so sweet!
