I hope your Thanksgiving was excellent. I was pleasantly surprised when I got to Fit Buddha on Thanksgiving morning to see one of our high school employees, Emily, there to take the same class.

So of course we had to get a group picture! Shanti, Marc, Sandy, me and Emily.

Then it was out to breakfast with Marc, Shanti & Sandy and then home to clean the house for my kids arrival. Houston arrived first at about 2 pm and ran some errands with me. Then Indiana and Larissa arrived about 3:30. And we got to getting the Honey Baked Ham and Turkey ready.

We were ready to eat at 5 pm and I even took a plate of dinner to both of my tenants…which they really appreciated.

Dinner was lovely and after dinner we headed to the store to shoot our Christmas card photos. Unfortunately, this is the only photo I got with the kids. I wasn’t on my game!

Time for an eBay score! I bought this plate back in 2018 for $5. It is a beautiful dinner plate. The picture does not do it justice.

Just sold for asking price of $101.39 less 5%! Yippppeeeee!

It was fun shooting the Christmas Card photos at the store with it being dark outside. I think the card turned out really cute! We put some outtakes on the back side and Indy came up with the cutest slogan…”What Happens at Lynn’s Consignments…Stays at Lynn’s Consignments!

Friday and Saturday were slow in the store and I took Saturday off to watch the Notre Dame game. I was out at garage sales on Saturday when I got a text from Susan. Guess who was at the store?

I knew he was going to be in town, but did not know what day. He always thrifts in the LA area on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. He had a tight schedule and I couldn’t make it back to the store in time to see him so I asked where he was going next and I met him at Buffalo Exchange.

No time for lunch & tiki cocktails this trip. But it was fun to catch up and see the sh*t he buys! He found two Laurel Burch Purses New with Tags. Laurel Burch passed away in 2007 from a rare bone cancer and her stuff does well on eBay.

Fun afternoon with Tiki and I headed home to watch the USC Notre Dame Game.

The USC Notre Dame game was atrocious. But at least I had long legged Cha Cha to keep me company. Hahahaha.

Speaking of Cha Cha, we couldn’t figure out what happened to the leftover homemade Apple Pie the morning after Thanksgiving.

We have a high end design job in Pasadena that we need to install mid December. We are desperately looking for:

Carlos (our cat) missed my kids so much that after Thanksgiving dinner we let him up on the table and he just couldn’t get enough of both Houston and Indiana. He had to put his little head on their heads. It was so cute!

We have such amazing customers here at Lynn’s Consignments. The day after Thanksgiving, Tia, came in to do some shopping and she picked out a light up candle that Indy had put batteries in the night before. Crazy!

I asked Tia if I could put a picture of her in my newsletter and she said “Of Course!” as she and her sister had made it into my newsletter a while ago because I didn’t think they looked alike at all and they turned out to be twins! LOL.

Then we had two friends come in shopping for clothing, Teri and Andrea. Teri was visiting from the Bay area and bought this amazing Moschino Rainbow Blazer. What a hoot!

Then on Wednesday, a new customer came in and bought a pair of arm chairs that had just arrived. She carted them home in her adorable VW Bus.

Time for another eBay score. There is a long story about my friendship with Stanley Papel, but not today, just know he is the King of Coffee Mugs and still owns Papel. He had one of his artists/contractors, Marci G, do the poetry for these mugs when she was pregnant and bedridden.

On Monday, I did Fit Buddha and then Sandy and I went out to lunch at Aloha. It started out as a lovely day, but by the time we were finished eating, the pier was socked in.

We have some deep discounts on two of our grey couches. The first one came in at $995 and was marked down to $597 and is currently ON SALE for $295.

This boucle sofa came in at $495 and was marked down to $297. It is currently ON SALE for $145.

11/28/24 Happy Thanksgiving & a Sale!….Lynn’s Latest #000023

First and foremost….Happy Thankgiving! I hope that you are having a wonderfully relaxing day with friends and family! My kids are coming home after they work today and we are doing a honey baked ham and turkey dinner. So excited to see them!

I am doing Fit Buddha right now as you read this…Sandy is there with us as well! And then we are going out for breakfast with Marc and Shanti… We LOVE Fit Buddha 🙂

My mom did not make it down for Thanksgiving this year…she is coming for Christmas instead.

This past week has been CRAZY! I had to go to Marina del Rey twice so I needed to get my car fixed. I took it in on Thursday and did not get it back until Saturday. Ughhhh.

I had to uber to Fit Buddha on Friday morning, but at least I made it to my workout!

Got the car back on Saturday morning and headed into LA to pick up Indy at Caffe Luxxe on Montana. Cha Cha joined me.

I dropped off Indy and Cha Cha at Caffe Luxxe in Brentwood and then I did a walking food tour of Venice that afternoon.

Super interesting. We had acai at some cow restaurant, then veggie sandwiches at the Vegan Pop up and then tacos.

Here is the vegan sandwich from the Vegan Pop Up. It was actually amazing!

Speaking of Cha Cha, the feedback from her crazy week last week was so funny…the “slot machine” episode and the “possum” brought in a lot of hysterical texts, emails and insta messages. LOL!

This first one is from my friends Rich & Nila in Chicago. They are long time eBay friends and we LOVE them!

The next message came from my friend Max who moved to Puerta Vallarta with his friend Joanne 8 years ago. I miss him!

And super interesting to hear how affordable it is for both human healthcare and vets.

I had to leave Marina del Rey Saturday afternoon to head back to Ventura…for a design install job on Sunday. But not before I got a cute picture of Indiana with Cha Cha and Grandpa.

I was also supposed to watch the USC/UCLA game with Marc that night, but it was raining, I was exhausted and I opted to stay home. The Good news….THE TROJANS WON! FIGHT ON!

Before I forget, we just got in the most amazing houseful of Mid Century Modern Furniture. Out of the blue, Ken called me and had to empty out his grandma’s house by Saturday night. I looked at the photos and was able to pick out some CHOICE pieces.

I called him and we spoke for half an hour and I told him what I could sell. Most of the furniture was Heywood Wakefield, with a lot of Selig thrown in. I was so excited to get it! But, as you may remember, I was out of town on Saturday.

I asked Susan if she could come in and handle it and God Bless Her, she came in on her day off.

Ken’s grandma was 102 year old, and I said “I am sorry for your loss” and he said “Oh, no, she is still very much alive we are just moving her to Phoenix.” SOOOOO Cool!

On Saturday, while I was “playing” Susan & Tina were taking in 25 pieces of Mid Century. Thank you Thank you!

Most of the MCM furniture is priced and you will see a lot of it in this newsletter. Sooooo exciting!

Sunday morning, I got up early to meet Susan, Adolio and Paul at the store to load up for a design install at Penny’s house in Santa Paula. It may have been one of my favorite installs yet!

Here we are with our obligatory loaded and ready to go photo. Such fun!

One last before. And just so you know and may have noticed, we do end up using a lot of the furniture, lamps and knick knacks that you may already own.

Just for fun a throwback photo to our two front Christmas windows from last year. This year we have gone a bit more subtle. But I must admit, I LOVE how Decked out in red and green these windows from last year are.

After our design job, Susan and I headed to Hozey’s for a celebratory lunch. We didn’t even know how it was going to turn out with Penny, but we knew that we LOVED it!

On Monday, I worked in the morning and then did Fit Buddha. During class, Marc said “wanna get lunch” and I said “Yes, of course!” So after class, Marc, me and Shanti (his daughter) headed to Lure for a lovely afternoon.

OK, I probably shouldn’t have gone to lunch, but whatever…LOL I needed to leave Ventura at 2:30 to be back in Marina del Rey for another event. I arrived in the Marina at 4:30 and left for my dinner at 5:30.

I got back to the kid’s condo at about 9:30 pm and Indy took this cute photo of Cha Cha and me. Cha Cha missed me.

Earlier in the evening, when I arrived back at the condo, I took this cute photo of Cha Cha while I was chatting on the phone.

The next morning I took the girls out to breakfast at Maxine’s in Venice. Such a great place and amazing food. If you haven’t heard of Maxine’s, you must google them and read about the “Chain Saw Massacre of 2022”. Seriously, blew my mind!

I headed back to Ventura after Breakfast to make it to Fit Buddha at 12:15. Cut it close, but it was all good. Then I headed to the store to do my long overdue eBay shipping….OMG! Crazy.

In the spirit of that, here is another eBay score. I bought these License Plates a few years ago for pretty cheap and this one sold for $72.79 and is going to Australia. Gotta love eBay. Check out the listing here.

Wednesday was CRAZY!!! Got in two truck loads. Thank you Sandy for letting me borrow your truck! And then I had to price all of the MCM items. Thank you Whale for agreeing to work and bring Logan. And thank you Tracy and Tina for working like crazy!

Then I headed down to Tony’s for Thanksgiving Eve with friends. What a fun and crazy day!

Happy Thursday!

OMG, not sure where to begin. It has been insane this past week. I left on Friday morning to head to the desert. The plan was to meet Indy for breakfast in Encino to hand off the Cha to her.

As I was leaving the house, I noticed some puppy vomit. Oh Cha! I figured it was because of the new canned food I started giving her on Thursday. Cleaned it up and off I went.

Indy and I met at a chain restaurant….Le Pain Quotidien (which means “The Daily Bread”) and it was good, but so expensive. Breakfast was $50 (for two entrees and one coffee..oi vey) and Cha Cha seemed fine at breakfast.

Then I started my 2 hour drive to the desert. About an hour out from my arrival, I got a phone call from Indy….”Mom, did you know that Cha Cha is sick. She just went to the bathroom and it was liquid and orange”. I said “Don’t worry honey, it is just the new food I was giving her.”

An hour later, I get another frantic call….Cha Cha had just thrown up a quarter and a nickel. Oh for God’s sake! Indy needed to be at an Improv class at 1 pm and now she needed to take Cha Cha to Puppy ER.

Indy was overwhelmed so I called Houston to step in and help out. He was stuck on the Pepperdine Malibu campus with a bike and no car. I considered driving right back to Marina del Rey because it was sounding like it was too much for my Indy girl. UGhhhh.

In any event, my girl came through and took Cha to a great Vet in Santa Monica. They wanted $2,450 from me to examine Cha Cha. I said, let’s just do an x-ray to make sure she hasn’t eaten any more coins. That was just going to be $1,100 and I say that “tongue in cheek”…ONLY $1,100!

I said, let’s go. Indy was so sweet and went to get all the 9 employees at VEG (Vetinerary Emergency Group) in Santa Monica coffees from Caffe Luxe where she works.

I was recounting the story to my former neighbor, Sandra, in Rancho Mirage and now she calls Cha Cha a slot machine! Hahahaha! Unfortunately, we are NOT playing to win however.

For those of you who may have forgotten, Cha Cha ate a quarter about 1 1/2 years ago and it cost $2,000 that time because they had to do endoscopic surgery down her throat to get it out.

I have been very vigilant about not leaving ANY coins out. This is where Carlos comes in. I have a vanity in my bedroom and Carlos likes to knock off my things onto the floor for Cha Cha to chew up. I noticed some change on there the other day and I think he batted it off onto the floor.

New rule….NO change in my house anywhere. Here is the $2,000 quarter. I asked Emma for the 30 cents that Cha Cha threw up in their condo, but she was not going to get it out of the garbage. Darn!

As my friend, Kel, suggested I could have used it to help pay the $1,100 bill. hahahaha

Just so you know, I don’t really blame Carlos and they really do love each other. They both missed me so much that when I got home from the desert on Monday night I could not get them off of my leg. So cute!

Time for an eBay score. I have talked about this set of napkin ring holders that I bought around Christmas of last year. Instead of selling them all together in a set of 8, I have chosen to sell them individually and have done really well with them!

This one just sold for asking price of $116.99. Whooopppeee!

In addition, I just sold the empty box that the 8 napkin rings came in for $36. Seriously! Isn’t that crazy? And if you click on the listing you can see how the lid of the box was even damaged.

After the Cha Cha ordeal and arriving safely to the desert, I went out to dinner with Candy and Kel at Mario’s in La Quinta. Fun to catch up!

Friday night I ended up sleeping 12 hours. I was exhausted and haven’t been sleeping well with the circus in my house (as another of my best friends from high school Melanie calls it LOL)….Carlos & Cha Cha go in and out all night. Just like teenagers :).

Saturday, I headed over to pick up Tina Burke at the Lakes Country Club. Tina is another one of my best friends from high school. We were planning to hit a few thrift stores and then get lunch. But, not before the obligatory photo was taken by Jerry on the golf course.

Tina and I ended up at Guillermos for lunch. Always fun to catch up!

Then we both got mani/pedis. Then I watched the rest of the USC game and hung out with Mo. A perfect day in the desert!

The store is super full of marvelous items! Come in and check them out. We don’t have room for many items right now, but here is what I am looking for…..

Someone remarked recently that we don’t have ENOUGH Christmas…so here is a shout out for QUALITY CHRISTMAS!

PLEASE CALL FIRST BEFORE BRINGING IN ANY SMALLS. For example, we took in so many things over the weekend that we are way behind in pricing. We can’t take in anything today. And no consignments on WEDNESDAY Ever…..NO Consignments on Wednesday. Thank you!

On Sunday, Mo and I hit thrift stores and went to the Texas Roadhouse out in Indio for lunch. A great steak with two sides for only $16.99.

Then we hit Skip’s Little Bar with Kel for dinner. I headed back to Ventura Monday morning and met up with Indiana and Larissa at Chin Chin’s in Studio City to grab the most expensive dog in history.

As soon as I got back to Ventura, I returned my rental car and headed to the store to ship eBay items that had sold over the weekend. I got a rental car for my trip to the desert because my car needs some work. Ughhhh.

It has been in an out of the shop too many times this year and I really need a new car. Hopefully, next year.

But more on Cha Cha’s shenanigans. On Monday night she was out playing in the front yard and came running up with what looked like a large rodent in her mouth.

OMG…another huge vet bill passed in front of my eyes. How to get her away from the varmint? She freaking wouldn’t drop it, so I got out the hose. She does NOT like water and I was eventually able to get her away from it and into the house.

Another crisis averted. But I was not going to look at that thing until morning.

Cha cha got an allergy shot on Tuesday morning and then I dropped her off at the groomers.

Once she was at the groomers, I headed down to Aloha steakhouse to celebrate Sandy’s birthday with a bunch of the Lynn’s Consignment girls.

We had so much fun and Martha came with new baby Phoenix who is now 2 months old and Val came with her grandson Jackson. So, I take that back it wasn’t just Lynn’s Consignment girls, it was also two young men. LOL!

But back to Cha Cha and the Varmint. Once I got home from the lunch party I dared to venture into the front yard…..and believe it or not that THING was gone!

Before I forget, we had a paint your own piece last week on Thursday afternoon and I just had one student, Anita. She is working on a marvelous piece and I will share after photos soon.

On Wednesday, Chris Wade FINALLY came back to pick up all of his purchases. LOL. Seriously, appreciate the business, but we have been storing this stuff FOREVER.

He showed up really early in the day so that we did not have to partake in day drinking. Cracks me up. We took a picture and posted it with the caption,

“What is Missing?”

Val got it right!

Business has started to pick up and I am so grateful! We sold quite a few couches last week and check out happy Kristen with her new couch. And somehow Sendia and I got it into her truck!
