Lynn’s eBay Ezine Volume IV, Issue Number 10

Hi!

What a week it has been. I am exhausted! In the past seven days, I have been to an Odyssey of the Mind competition, a baseball tournament in Huntington Beach, and two days at Disneyland! During that time period, I can’t believe how much was sold!!!

  • Lynn Recommends eBay Live Boot Camp–Payment plan ends soon
  • Special Announcement: Infomercial is airing
  • Feature Article: How to gross over $20 an hour 24 hours a day!
  • The Queen’s Update: We want to hear your eBay success stories!

This ezine is published once a week.

March 6, 2008 Volume IV, Issue 10

Dear eBayers,

Before we get to my very successful week on eBay let’s check out how our little Salt Lake City competition turned out. O.K., so out of all the stuff I hauled back from SLC, only one plate and one purse sold. Well, I almost recouped my $33.00 investment.

Click here to see the plate.

The purse is here.

And Maureen (with her six measly items) ends up selling that coffee mug for way more than I could have ever imagined. Lynn–Zero Maureen–One. Alright, she won this competition. I just taught her too darn well! Just kidding. I am glad that it sold for a small fortune.

Here is a link to Mo’s Starbucks mug.

My point is this, even though only one plate sold from the 33 items I listed, I am not discouraged at all. Because once the other things are listed in my eBay store–they will eventually sell. Read my feature article to learn more about how well my eBay store did while I was out running all over Southern California! And how you can set your store up to do just as well!

So, Houston had his Odyssey of the Mind competition on Saturday morning and the team did an amazing job! They took 3rd in the skit competition and 6th overall out of 15 teams. Not bad for their first time at competition!!

After the Odyssey competition, we headed to Huntington Beach to celebrate my dad’s birthday with a family dinner at the Cheesecake Factory.

Then Sunday we had a baseball tournament and after the tournament, it was off to Disneyland for Sunday afternoon and all day Monday. It was a blast. And in those 60 hours (from Odyssey of the mind to our return to the desert) I sold $1,305.68 from my eBay store and at auction. All unique one-of-a-kind items!

Don’t miss my feature article to learn how you can also gross $21.76 per hour without being in your office (maybe even being at Disneyland) and even while you are sleeping!

And if you really want to get the in-depth training to make eBay a success for you, then LIVE eBay boot camp is for you. We have already sold six seats!!! And with almost six months until the event–you know that this will sell out completely. Our six-month payment plan ends soon and I don’t want YOU to miss out–please read more here. And check out the Lynn Recommends section for more.

In the Special Announcements section, I am very happy to reveal that we finally have our media purchase for the infomercial. It will begin airing on March 14th. I am excited and nervous. Check out this section to see if it will be playing in your neck of the woods.

Here’s to Successful eBaying!

Lynn Dralle, ‘The Queen of Auctions,’ Creator of the best-selling eBay Boot Camp in a Box and Boot Camp in a Box Lite.

Check out this email that I got from Diva Dawn–she is to my left in the photo below! (AND she is also featured prominently in my infomercial set to air March 14th in major cities!!!)

Lynn,

I just wanted to write to tell you what a wonderful day I had yesterday. I sold $350.00 with 40 auctions that were ending. And, I can specifically attribute over $330.00 of those sales to attending Boot Camp! Although I have never doubted your advice and theories, yesterday they were proven tried and true, over and over again. Bill (my husband) was amazed and astounded.

I just wanted to write and express my gratitude to you once again for empowering and inspiring me. I’m slowly growing my eBay business. From not having EVER sold anything on eBay before Boot Camp, and then only sparingly in October, I am approaching receiving my turquoise star for 100 feedbacks and am having a great time. I can work at three in the morning — or during the day — or at eight at night — whatever suits my schedule that day. The freedom is intoxicating.

Again, Lynn, — THANK YOU! You have helped change our lives — and we are so grateful. I can’t say enough about what you have done for me. Fear used to motivate me — but not anymore!

Dawn Ralston

Don’t let FEAR motivate you, either. Take a chance!

The invitations have gone out for the ONE and ONLY Live eBay Boot Camp of 2008. It will be held (once again) at the amazing La Quinta Resort here in the Palm Springs area. Our six-part payment plans expire on March 31st so don’t MISS OUT.

If you are a Six Steps to eBay SuccessBoot Camp in a Box Lite, or Full Boot Camp owner–you are eligible for a special price as promised. We will be sending out those invitations once again this week so that none of you miss out!!!

To get the best room rates for my students (and myself!), it will be held the weekend after Labor Day: Friday through Sunday, September 5th-7th, 2008.

Click here to learn more.

This Boot Camp will sell out–especially with the infomercial coming out on March 14th, so I encourage you to reserve your seat as soon as you can.

We have already sold six seats!!! And that is months before the event–you know that this will sell out completely by September. I don’t want YOU to miss out.

I am so excited to have another fun bunch of students meet us here this Fall. I hope that you will be one of those students.

Click here to reserve your spot now.

Well, it has finally happened. The media buy has been placed and my infomercial will be airing the weekend of March 14th. I am so excited.  Here is the schedule. The first four are national so hopefully, you will be able to see one of those, although I do realize that the times are a little scary! 5:30 am on the Oxygen network, etc.

I also want to point out that we can be pre-empted.  Some of these will not happen due to other breaking news etc. My media company tells me that about 80% will actually go through. So let me know what you think!!  It was a blast making the 28-minute show and a lot of the testimonials are from my Live Boot Campers from last year. Thanks, guys!

How to gross over $20 an hour 24 hours a day!

by Lynn A. Dralle, ‘The Queen of Auctions’

From 8 am Saturday morning to 8 pm Monday night, my life was a whirlwind. Well, it always is anyway but this time it was more hectic than normal! During those 60 hours, we were all over the southland in my mom’s minivan. At all times we had me, my mom, my dad (who was in town visiting), Houston, and Indy. At other times we had Uncle Lee (my brother) or Ian (Houston’s best friend).

What a reality show we could have! Anyway, I didn’t do much work during those 60 hours but I did have my cell phone with me. It gets Internet and email access. So throughout that trip, I would check my emails and I was shocked at how much was selling both at auction and out of my eBay store.

As an example, we were out to dinner for my Dad’s birthday; I checked my phone and said, “Oh my gosh! I just sold $115.93 worth of sterling flatware from my eBay store!” Or while I was watching the kids crawl around on the floor with Goofy at Disneyland I noticed that I sold a set of Majolica dinnerware out of my eBay store for $92.93. It was wild!

It got me thinking that I was having an amazing few days on eBay and that it would be a great subject for the ezine this week. I couldn’t wait to get home and add up everything that I had sold and see what it was and if it was mostly stored items or auction items during that short 60-hour period. AND how I could show you how to do the same with your eBay businesses!

I love math and calculating things like this. I was on the math team in high school (what a geek!) and I was even declared one of the top 22 high school mathematicians in Washington state my senior year in high school. I knew this was going to be a fun calculation!

Before I get to my calculations, I want to clarify something here. I do sell a lot of my teaching tools (books, DVDs, etc.) on eBay and I do this for many reasons–mostly advertising and exposure. So for the purposes of this article, I want you to know that NONE of these numbers take those items into account. I took them out of the mix. They are a NON-issue.

OK. Here is the fun data and my analysis.

From my eBay store.

Here is a photo and the link to the wine butler that was a gift from my mom. He was really cute but just didn’t fit with my décor and I kept tripping over him! Remember don’t tell my mom that I sold it on eBay. I don’t want to hurt her feelings. But also remember, that eBay is a wonderful place to recycle gifts.

By the way, I did ask my mom before I listed him and she said “No Problem”. I listed him way back in February of 2007 at auction first and then I moved him into my eBay store

Tip #1: It can take months if not years to sell items out of your eBay store. Don’t get discouraged–be patient. Once again I will say it, “Patience is a virtue!” It took me 13 months to get the price I wanted for this cute bald waiter! I think my mom paid $59.99 for it at Home Goods and I wasn’t going to let it go for less than $49.99!

Dutch Items from my eBay Store:

I want to point out something here that some of you may not know. When you do a completed auction search by the seller on eBay, the only items that will show up are non-multiples. What this means is that because I list a lot of items in my eBay store as Dutch listings (Example–One listing with a quantity of 12 available) when less than the full amount sells–nothing shows up when you search completed sales by the seller.

Tip #2: When checking out your competition–remember that if they are selling quantity items out of a store–those items will not show up in a completed seller search.

Here are those Dutch items that sold during those 60 hours:

DUTCH eBay Store Items Sold

Fixed Price

4 prisms clear

$11.96

Porsgrund Christmas Plate

$9.99

2 Greeting Cards (my design)

$3.90

Valencia Sterling Flatware 7 Pieces

$115.93

3 White Princess Dinner Plates

$29.97

Total

$171.75

Here is a photo of those Princess dinner plates. You can see that there are still three available. This will give you a great indication of how these DUTCH eBay store auction items work.

Click here to see the Dutch auction.

Tip #3: When you have multiples of a single ONE item–use a Dutch STORE listing. I very RARELY use Dutch AUCTIONS (as opposed to Dutch store listings). I think it is too confusing. For my eBay store, I will list items Dutch since they are already a fixed price but I ONLY do it if I am selling singles. For example, if I have two salad plates but have five auctions with two salad plates each, I will NEVER do a Dutch store or auction listing. Too darn confusing. I only use the Dutch feature for singles. One dinner plate, one soup bowl, etc.

Auctions items sold:

eBay Auction Items Sold

Fixed Price

The ONE item from SLC Geisha plate

$9.99

Blue White Dansk Dinnerware 15 Pieces

$201.55

Sunnybrooke Castleton Dinnerware 11 Pcs

$239.89

Mikasa Windows Dinnerware 13 Pieces

$146.89

Total

$598.32

Tip #4: You MUST have an eBay Store. During those 60 hours, I sold $707.36 out of my eBay store at fixed prices and $598.32 at auction. 54.18% of my business was out of my store.

Check out this email that just came from Dory, one of our special Queen’s Court members. I couldn’t believe her timing!

Lynn,

I just wanted to thank you again for everything you have done for me. Tonight while I was listing I reached the 1000 item mark. Yay! I’m so excited. I made a goal last year to have 1000 by eBay Live and I can’t believe how much quicker it came. Thanks again!

Dory

Here is a link to Dory’s store, Gizmo’s Gadgets, and Goodies.

Tip #5: You must get as many things as you can possibly get listed in your eBay store. Always try them at auction first and then move them over into the store. To learn more about eBay stores, check out my special eBay Store Report.

On a final note, if I continue to sell $21.76 per hour whether sleeping, riding California Screaming at Disneyland, or just hanging out–I will be selling a gross amount of $15,667.20 per month (based on a 30-day month with 24 hours per day (duh!)–720 hours). Pretty impressive!! I challenge you to do the same.

Happy eBaying!

Lynn
